Hello all! I am just doing some research into windsurfing and was wondering if anyone could help me out with statistics and/or figures. Even anecdotal evidence would be cool.

Basically I just want to know more about participation rates in Australia and Internationally. Are the number of people taking up the sport increasing? Are competitions becoming more frequent? Is there more or less money in the sport now.

My only real understanding this far is that grassroots development of the sport on Australia's east coast is quite backward and in need of some help.

I'm honestly starting from scratch with this research, so if anyone has any help at all, I would greatly appreciate it.

yup...that's a good place to start. Unfortunately the census doesn't collect this vital information, so we're left with conjecture, but I think Pierre's post in the following thread makes sense.
