for those that may be interested Windsurfer International have just released the latest issue. In it they generously did a rather large story on the wizards of Oz movie.
Brian (the magazine editor) asked some interesting questions that relate as much to identity of windsurfing in Australia as they do to the movie itself.

As an aside:
I reckon this online magazine format could work really well as an ipad app (Windsurfer international are working on one) - with something like a $10 per year subscription (made up figure - but i would imagine something pretty cheap) delivered to a beautiful device like an iPad (or other manufacturer's tablet- i am sure there will be heaps soon) where you can relax on the sofa , by the fire / heater and enjoy a magazine like experience with video embedded.
Looks like a winner to me. Maybe the ipad / tablet will be the saviour of the magazine / newspaper industry ?
Nice article Reflex!,
There certainly are some ideas floating around with Ipad apps....the nice thing is you could produce a digital magazine which has all sorts of embedded media in it- video, animation, games etc.
It also will definately become a launch platform so we might see Wizards 2 available as a Ipad app!!!
drift
i like windsurfer international. but is there a way i can download the content so i can read later etc?
Thats where an ipad magazine app would be gold - as it would just download the mag once for you to watch whenever you like in the future. - this is how 4500 people are now reading the Australian newspaper electronically- and thats just within 1 week of the Ipad being launched in Australia.
Think about all the saved trees and fuel by not having to drive and fly newspapers all over the country.
If this takes off i would be very excited about distributing video on this format -
With all those display pixels to work with - The picture will look awesome -
and no converting beautiful hi def images down to SD DVD quality - and no outrageous blu ray licensing fees to pay! Perfect!!
If you bought a Boards magazine subscription with the online access as well, you got access to an electronic version with Zinio and you were free to pass a copy along to a friend as part of the same deal.
I think it had the ability to have embedded content, although I can't say I used it.
Maybe Zinio will release an app for the ipad?
There will always be people like me that prefer the printed copy, but I am sure the portability of these new tablet devices will make it more practical.
The biggest problem with this idea is download speeds, many of us are still stuck with crap internet and unlikely to get good access. No profit to supply to the country.
If we could download the mag and save it as suggested then it might work. I like paper, works anywhere, doesn,t go flat, can be dropped, squashed, read in sunlight, chucked into the car and still work after many years.
why would i buy a $1000 ipad just so i can download a internet mag.
there are these formats called pdf and flash that cost nothing.
"boards magazine" has the iphone application which allows viewing and reading their issues on iphone, ipad. Cheaper than international subscription by far.
