Some idiot broke my car window to get to my specially-made prescription windsurfing glasses that were hanging off the mirror. About $1000 damage.
Arrggggh. Can't read the wind without them - no joke. Great start to the season.
Friggin' low lifes.
They looked fancy from afar, I guess that's what attracted attention.
Funny thing, the prescription is quite strong. Even the opto said to me: "they're so thick you need good eyes to see through that."
Alas, back to see him now...
I need to get some prescription glasses made for sailing - currently just sail around in a blurred haze.
What brand / optometrist etc do you use that supplies good prescrition sports glasses?
cheers

Hey Roar
No need for special specs - just get that last 'worn out' pair and use those - good enough for the water.
The trick is to get a 'string' of about 18 inches long and tie this to each arm of the specs.
Then, put the specs on hanging around your neck, facing up the wrong way. Now pick up specs and rotate on to face (correct way up). You should now have specs on - but with a fairly tight loop of string that runs around your neck.
With this system, when they get knocked off in the wash, they just fall forward onto your chest - they can't fly off vertically (like a simple strap around the back of the head does).
I've used this system for years windsurfing and bodysurfing, and never lost a pair of specs yet - despite the specs being washingmachined off my face numerous times.
Cheap as.
PS. You'll need to be careful with the above instructions, or you might end up looking like Mark_australia
Thats not a bad idea - i currently use a pair of transition glasses so they darken in the sun like sunnies - they about 18 months old now so im due for a eye check and new pair. might get a strap and try out what you said :)
Cheers
Contact lenses! I've been using them for 24 years for windurfing, surfing, whitewater kayaking, snorkling, etc etc, never lost any in the water. These days they are UV proof as well, and you can wear your choice of sunnies.
Got myself zapped with a laser a couple of years ago - both eyes. Intralase - no blade/pain, although a wierd smell of burning hair
Decided to get it done after losing a contact in a mini-tri at St Kilda, dumping the 'good one' on the basis that it was confusing the hell out of my brain, and then not being able to find my roadbike during the transition....net result was that my missus ended up beating me. Never again.
Best cash I've ever spent - instant result, no aftercare req'd and you can say goodbye forever to trying to find your specs at 3am in the morning.
