I am looking at getting an RS6 9.8 second hand, the correct mast is and x9 ultra 530 which has an eye watering price tag too much for a second hand sail. I am looking at getting X6 520 which is 100% carbon, which in this case I am not so sure is ideal, as I am concerned about the durability.
This is my first go at formula, and I had heard that NP had a lot of problems (like other manufactures I guess) with masts snapping. Just want to make sure I not going to cost myself a lot of money by getting an older sail, and this mast.
Even the pro's were using this combination. 9.8m RS6 & NP X6 520.
I believe it was my favourite racing gear a few years ago. In fact i think i preferred it to some of the latest kit?...
What state will you be racing in? NSW?
Ahem, Racing ...
Probably just make it interesting for the guys on their second lap.
Will be back in Sydney, (Botany to be precise) sometime January, for a month at least, but I travel to Sydney at least twice a year.
Will come to any of the NSW races that are on while I am there, otherwise I will try and join the crew out a Botany Bay. I have watched them quite a few times as a slog by on a freestyle board.![]()
Katapult and Brett,
Would the 9.8 be a good one sail solution for typical botany bay formula sailing? (I weight 72kg, fit but not very cordinated, and with 18mths sailing experience). Or should I go bigger if I want just one sail?
Hey RacerX, Im 65kgs and use both 10.7 and 9.8. If I was to pick a single sail to use it would definitely be the 9.8.
