Days like today are the type you rmember when your old & grey..![]()
I went out on the lake..it looked solid scary 25 - 30kts NE..I had rigged the 5m but decided to rig the 4.2m & even then was worried about it being too much as it was a bit protected where I was rigging & a bit offshore..I even rang my partner to check Seabreeze & he said it was only 20kts..I'm sure it was more at Coal Pt.seemed more like 25kts. I went out & @##$unreal! I was a little underpowered in the lulls but it was pretty consistent & spot on in the stronger wind..big rollers coming through & not chopped up like usual..I think I YEEHAA"d about 10 times on one run & got some decent jumps for once.Almost did a perfect carve gybe too..
Some others arrived & I got gopro camera on my boom ( 1st time ever) .Of course I muffed every gybe as all I could think of as I went to do one was ' the camera ' camera.." The consensus was that it was awesome sailing..I'm still on an adrenaline buzz..sometimes I wonder why I bother especially as its 1.30hrs from home to being rigged up but now I know..If the body hangs in maybe another go tomorrow if I get off the computer & get some work done! [}:)]..Neck isn't happy but even if i fall in a heap .. It was worth it!![]()

The good thing is - if windsurfing is your thing, that feeling never goes away. I've been windsurfing since the 80's.
Good on you SBC; happy for you
You give me some hope. I think I`ve forgotten how to sail; its been many weeks since I`ve had a decent sail; due to this never ending rain, bought new gear weeks ago and still haven`t used it![]()
Its amazing what a difference the right sail choice makes..I went out yesterday in the same sort of conditions & rigged a larger sail 5m ( it was a bit less wind when i first went out but then kicked in). I was hoping for the same rush.Didn't enjoy it nearly as much as I was too busy hanging my weight off the mastfoot to keep the board on the water & watching for chop to avoid ( hanging off the side too much to jump easily ).
The ramps I was looking for to jump the day before with the smaller sail I was trying to avoid..I always hook in as I come up waterstarting in stronger winds & I muffed it & got the rig too far forward & catapulted with whiplash.. not much fun..
I think I can now tell when I need the 4m..when i get rich Ill get a wind meter..
Good on you Sue. At least you got out there.![]()
I sailed Tuesday at Gosford with a NP 6.5 V8 on my JP 114. It was an extremely good afternoon with wind gusts of up to 25knots from the NE. Had a great 90 minutes. Water not too choppy and a high tide made it one to remember. Only one other out with me.
Monday was similar but not as quite as good because I used the 7.5 V8 on the same board, which at times saw me a bit overpowered and fighting for control. A lot more gusty with big wind shifts. Not as great but still a good day.
Good to get a nice day for a change.
