Had the nicest sail I've had in years today. Only 12-15kts odd but not a lot of chop as
a result so I wasn't getting bashed around , pretty consistent, good company, lovely sunny day. Late in the day distant yachts sailing...
I felt comfortable for once! I'd put the boom up a little higher which may have helped. Chased our local 77 year old on a long blast up & down the lake but couldn't catch him..[}:)]![]()
..Soothed my ego by thinking he's had more years sailing than me..![]()
Nice one.
The weather has been pretty good for last couple of weeks. Not much wind but at least not much rain either and a bit warmer than all summer. 25 degrees and the sun shining. Quite unbelievable weather and a pleasant change.
I sometimes like the softer winds for just taking a cruise. Big sail, big board and not much chop is just a nice relaxing way to spend some time. I use a larger board quite often because it does get quite gusty down here and you need some volume to keep on the plane and to make it easy when you are slogging.
Do you think sometimes people use a board that is too small and would have more fun with a bit more volume???
I love 25+ knots and waves, but also enjoy a cruise after work, 7.8m ram, 121 falcon, north shox xtr, beautiful, smooth cruisy and easy, and when the wind comes up a bit its a bit of slalom with 3 or 4 mates having a good time....
ahhh, cool for an hour, anylonger and i start jumping and trying freestyle on my race gear ![]()
