i sailed this 08' 6.0 mtr. sail twice but am wary about the mast cuz i use the old NP matrix with yellow insignia am guessing 60% carbon content max. would this mast suffice the required 75% and newer masts? i noticed as i downhaul a ft. at a time the cams at the bottom get tighter and tighter that i make sure the cams don't come flying off however they pop nicely at both tacks and am thinking maybe the newer masts are a tad smaller in diameter...any suggestions

If the cams are rotating fine then the mast diameter is fine, most are a standard diameter apart from the dropshapes or rdms.

Cams will never come flying off as they get tighter, the direct opposite occurs.

60 vs 75% you won't tell the difference.

Just go and sail

they are exact opposites of what they need.

If theres issues with anything its cos of that.

i used the same mast in an 06 gtx & it worked fine.
the bend curve changed in 06 on gaastra from hard top masts to more of a constant curve / slightly flex top masts. check www.peterman.dk/masts-all-imcs01.htm , like you i found the mast was quite a tight fit in the luff pocket, but worked fine.

You need to tell some shops that! My first rig (3 & 1/2 yrs ago) was a GTX 7.5 with a NP X6 mast! Was supposed to be a V6 sail, but they sold-out, told me that the GTX was equivalent, although I think I got a pretty good swap.

Although they seemed fine to me (not that I had much of a clue then......or now, for that matter!)

Prob was learning with a 7.5 sail with cams! I guess it's one way to learn how to progress fast!
