Indeed, third day in row of more then perfect winds/chop combination and sadly I had to finish early today.
After just two hours I had terrible cramps to my calves when water starting.
Usually appear when in the water and try to lift the leg on the board.
Any tips on cramps will be appreciated.

:( I switched from motorbike to windsurfing to save on petrol and you ask me again to walk to petrol station ?
Are you sure it helps? Should I use 98 octane or better alcohol mix?

it's ok, you are allowed to be sore....if you are sore and there are a few hours u can't account for, only then do you have reason to be worried

there were a lot of kiters there yesterday. maybe that accounts for it.

feel much better today, wind was 20-25knots so i ventured out for a short session to loosen up the muscles.

worked a treat. tomorrows 20-25 again, think i might miss it and go maybe tues or wednesday. 20-25 both those days also. [}:)]

how long are your harness lines?

it could be that,

or it could be you need more outhaul if your back hand is taking too much pressure.
it could also be that your lines aren't ballanced with the centre of effort.
could also be your boom height is not working with your line length.

are you using a seat or waist harness?

for seat harness, grip the boom with your hand. the harness lines should be able to tounch you elbow or there abouts.

I haven't got the fitness to stay out long enough to get sore..in that way..I only have to look at a board for my neck to get sore..
I don't know how you go out several days running. I need a day or so off to recover..

In my case, it has always been caused by sailing for long periods with an upright fin or changing from a wave board/wave fin back to a slalom board/upright fin. My solution was that, when changing back into street clothes after sailing, I rubbed in no-heat, no-odour, Dencorub around my ankles and leg muscles before the drive home. Cured my problem entirely.

AM, I can tell you that, at your age of 43, it’s only going to get worse. Isn’t that something to look forward to?

Endura sports drink which contains magnesium is also very effective if you get cramps during or after sailing,

windman at my age it might get worse but that aint going to stop me .My father who is an avid snow skier at 70 has done every tripple black diamond run in aspan & vale so i must use that inherited determination and never let it stop me.He only took up skiing at 60.did have the magnisum tables & they seem to help .

Sadly, the worst double blacks at Vail are not actually that hard, but good on yer grandad anyway. The Americans grade everything really soft to keep the doofi safe. THe ski-ing is nice, but it's not gnarly.
My ski-trip formula for keeping the legs going is 2 Nurofen in the morning, 2 Mersyndol at night, hot spa before apre and heaps of walking after to get the lactate out.
Getting really fit before we go is a bit plus too.
The same formula worked pretty well on the Maui trip as well.

Brings back memories.. years ago I worked in the post office in a big delivery depot with 50 odd posties..the day after a sail I'd be covered in dencorub..you should have heard the complaints! What's that smell!!???[}:)]

SBC,

I know that you are.....err.... no longer 21 and I'd hoped that you might see the post. I thought that maybe the Dencorub would help you after your fall-in gybes.

Have also tried the odiforous Dencorub, resulting in a work colleague's alergic reaction to the odour. The non-odour product overcame that matter. If you haven't already, you might care to try it.
