if any one happens to come across a gopro with a flymount attached or not up at gnaraloo there is a Carton in it for you.
not sure if it came off in the water or land but its gone walkabout.
long shot i know but cant hurt to try.
Hey Benny, I'd doubt the Flymount could or would unscrew that much if at all, I'd say someones at home enjoying your loops etc, bugger.
Feel your pain - I lost mine after having it for a week........ sucks.........
Not caused by the mount though....
theft.......
Hope you find your camera troppo
does your mount look something like this? i read a post on mountain bike forum about a guy's splitting where the red line is in this pic. i hope it's not common, i'd like to get a similar mount myself ![]()
for anyone interested in a flymount also have a look at the Manfrotto Nano Clamp. This is a proper camera clamp used to mount thousands of dollars worth of gear on to moving vehicles, bikes etc. .
I am using those for my professional work and found them pretty faultless. I do tend to secure them with steal cables ... since you don't really want a 5 kg rig to drop onto anyones head but I haven't had one fail yet.
They are about $70 to $100 if you buy them here in Oz but can be had for much less if you buy them from the US.
yep nano clamp is the go
the only draw backs are it's heavier and gets bulkier if you put a ball joint fitting on it so u can angle camera a bit + everything manfrotto = $$
according to some photograpic evidence it appears to have come adrift during an aerial manouvre.
in davy jones locker it be....aaarrrggghhh
Probably run away to live in sin with my mast, a couple of luff tubes and about 3 fins which are hanging out there.
Isn't the gloo just grand?
Condolences Tropster
The Nano clamp is great, but it's not designed for this type of photography - it's made out of non-marine grade aluminium, and has no mounting device to stop your camera unwinding. It also has nothing inside the jaws to protect your equipment.
The Flymount has been designed specifically for windsurf mounted photography - the jaws fit perfectly around a mast, and have soft urethane inserts to prevent luff tube rips or clamp movement under impact.
We've sold a lot of Flymounts now, all over the world, and this is only the second one we've heard of with a problem. The Flymount comes with a full warranty, and any customer who experiences problems, or is unhappy with their purchase, should contact us for a replacement or full refund.
^^^^^ My guess is that he would gladly accept either a full refund OR a replacement right about now....![]()
Fairplay - I should add that the Flymount warranty doesn't cover theft.
If your Flymount is mounted with the lanyard attached, it's pretty much impossible to lose. Mark Angulo was wiping out in 5 metre waves without his Flymount coming off.
It appears to have come off during a back loop although i havent seen the b4 and after pics yet. the lanyard is of no use when mounted half way up the mast as there is nowhere to attatch it to without putting a hole in your luff sleeve. i had the lanyard tied around the body of the flymount to help prevent it coming un attatched. it was also attatched to the camera in case the go pro tripod mount failed.
i think the mount is good , i was probably just unlucky. bit dissapointing when you lose $500 worth of gear and footage but i guess these things happen.
Feel ya pain mate. Lost my first go pro at a well used Mandurah spot. Swimming with the fishes now.
Spewing too, was a good day
after seeing the pics today, it wasnt the back loop that did it.bit of a mix up there.
there is approximate hour time gap from when i came in left my gear to pack up camp and go back out sailing where it has gone missing..
cheers for the offers from flymount australia.
Bad luck Troppo.
So are you saying someone has removed it from your kit while it was sitting on the beach ?
Did you catch up with Marcus up there ?
yeah thats a possibility. im pretty sure i didnt wipe out from the time the last picture was taken with it attatched as i came in.
yeah saw the sponge up there and thought you had done the bolt up. He was frothing for the forecast and winging about kiters. showed me some sick pictures of one eyes.
