Hello to all windsurfers from barcelona!! the other side of world!!

i just begin into formula with a old gun boom. now i'considering a new boom for my 11mts sail(260-boom) to replace my old and elastic gun boom.

Is the alu race tapered 250-270 really stiff? i need for a recreational use , not regattas, but i want to pump with it without posibility that broken.

I can see that boom very used in FE but they cant use carbon booms...

I know tha a maui salis is better but is really necessary for a non comp use?

Any suggestion??

regards and sorry for my poor english!!

Hello, not,

You might also consider the 2010 NP X3 or X6 (hybrid) booms or the Maui Sails Race 230.

I have tried to distort the NP booms in our local shop and found that both are significantly stiffer than the previous models (which were pretty stiff). Also, NP offer an Adjustable Outhaul kit that can be fitted to X3/X6's, so giving you AO availability on your big sail.

The MS boom is slightly less stiff than the 2009 NP models but has the AO pullies already installed.

Hope this helps.

I have the 190-240 Severne Alu race boom and have to say I am impressed.
Its stiffer than Tiger woods on the job and have used it to 232cm and without any issue.
I would definitely recommend them

Not,
I believe the severnes are rebranded Aerons. Just be mindful of the equation: big* sailors + big aluminium booms + big sails = big trouble.

*big (80+kg) as defined by retailer after boom breaks

i try it... i'm 82kg (before christmas) 265 boom is no 3meters... but the most important i've another ecuation:

big formula table + litle house + very expensive sails and booms = divorce

the severne is about 200$ and de carbon one about 1000$

i've an aeron os slalom 180-240 in my hands and is really very stiff like the carbon one...

if the severne 250 is on the same.... umm... is a very good options for the no-pro windsurfers like me.

I need to talk on a Formula Experience forum, to see if any one brake one of thems...
they go on a 10-11mts with 20knots with this booms...

thanks a lot for your helps...

I think the title of this post is a contradiction...

there ain't such a thing as an aluminium race boom. It's like saying I have a formula one car with a 1.6 litre engine... when everyone knows a formula one car has a 2.4 litre engine.
