Hello here is a new link of pictures of shoalhaven heads Nsw in the days when the river mouth was open creating a premier windsurfing (wavesailing and speedsailing) and surfing location if anyone is old enough to remember it www.surfresearch.com.au/SHB.html care of Geoff Cater at surfresearch
They are un real pic's. I remember when i was a young grommet and the old man was teaching me to windsurf at the river and i was watching the guys blast through the river mouth, and thinking i cant wait to get out there,, ahh the memorys. Thanks for sharing!! Wish it was still open.
Great pictures. I sailed there a few times in the mid nineties when I lived in the Illawarra. It was great to drive down there with a few windsurfing mates and sail the NE seabreeze there. Tons of people sailing too.
Recently we went there and it looked absolutely sh!t.
Good post pwatts22 . Brings back memories. It certainly was a great place to sail at.
Waves to jump on the way out and smooth water to gybe on when coming back in.
Im amazed at the amount of water there in the pic of 1988 when it busted open
Amazing pics thanks! I sailed there a lot in 86/87/88 and also up the river near Ferry Lane and Pig Island. Great days. Scored plenty of waves at the Bombie too. Often I think back about how those were some of the greatest, certainly most carefree days of my life. Used to run an Air sail too.
