sourced rope from yachting place same as windsurfing rope.
If replacing rope what size do you get i get it in 2m lengths. for out haul and downhaul
Also attach 4 metres of rope 2*2 metre lengths to back of boom (either side )as spare?
more rope has to be better than less rope right?
seen people running like 2 wraps before cleat on a 4 mec advantage.

these must be like 1 metre lenghts.
cant get enough rope?
What is your down haul rope out haul rope length?
how often do you replace your rope?as standard?
I find if im using large sail 7+ its difficult to get the downhaul
with shorter roper on same base.?
can we assume that rope is like a sling?
If we divide the downhaul load over 4 lines rather than 2
its less likley to break?

Holdon ill ring Ben Severne ?????He should be able to make the calculations............

You haven't been following one of the Dockers around tonight by any chance

Just buy a role of 4mm Mylar rope.
And your Uni joint, any wear in the pins that is, steps then change them but doubt you would wear out a steel uni-joint

I find 2 metres is longer than I need for my 7.3 twin cam. 1.8 would do. I use 2 sheaves on the extension and 3 on the tack. If you want to use another pair of sheaves you will need longer. 2.2 m would do it for me but I'd rather use 5 good quality sheaves than 7 of those dodgy little ones on the 4 sheave tack hooks and 3 sheave extensions.

With good sheaves, a bit of silicone lube and some Formuline down haul rope its easy to get adequate downhaul with just 5 sheaves.

I got 1.5m of that AWESOME white rope. I can't believe that rope its absolutely joy. No fraying whatsoever yet.

1.5m is a pretty good for my wave/freestyle getup, though I hate having to endlessly coil the rope around my mast and putup with a little extra effort to rig a sail. Go 1.75-2m for slalom IMO.

Don't skimp on that white rope, its worth every penny.

As a general rule, I use 1.5m lengths for my downhaul and 1.0m lengths for my outhaul.

When any rope start to get "furry", it's time to replace it.

Hope this helps.
