Looking at some photos of me taken last windy day I noticed I was sinking the windward rail..I was a bit overpowered & hanging off the boom but obviously still heavy footed..I suppose the trick is to hang off the boom but flatten the board with your toes..& keep it light?

try raising your boom a bit. This will take the weight off your feet. Be mindful it will let the board fly(looser on the water) more and the nose may ride higher so you will feel not in control so much but you will go quicker

It will take some time to get used to it.

You might need longer harness lines so you can raise your boom higher.
It really does lighten the feeling of the board, (it's more fun) and reduces the strain on the body. You can sail longer.

I had gone for longer lines on my 125ltre but once I got onto the smaller board I dropped the boom..maybe a hangover from surf days..? Ill try it higher.

i recall someone once posting that most don't have the boom high enough. i started experimenting with this a few years back and found that higher boom (with longer harness lines) helped me plane earlier, and promoted a more upright stance. i kept trying it higher and higher. but at the same time i also started having trouble keeping pressure on the front foot...my leading foot always kept lifting out of the strap. it wasn't until i read on this forum that that is a symptom of having your boom too high.
