hello ,

Me and a friend of mine from germany are going to fly to sydney at the 18th september. We want to stay a few month in sydney an then travel around australia with our windsurf-equipment. We want to buy a car in syndney but till that we have no idea where to store our surf-equipment for the first days or maybe weeks. maybe somebody has an idea or has or knows a space where we can store it cheap. thanks for response , Caspar

There are self storge places like Kennards. Not sure how much they cost.

You might be better off buying a cheap van and storing all your gear in it.

expect to pay around $240 for a medium size storage place at Kennards. There are a number around the city.

I probably wouldn't leave my gear in the car. If you do make sure the gear is out of sight. While thieves don't tend to target windsurf gear per se here in Sydney, there are some suburbs such as Bondi, Darlinghurst, Kings Cross, Newtown and a few others where you have to be careful. Thieves generally go for small items of value... the big thing at the moment is to steal GSP units left in cars.

RE buying a car, Gum tree is an option. There are also a number of other places in the Kings Cross area such as Travellers Auto-barn that will buy you back at a guaranteed price.

My recommendation would be to go for something like a Mitsubishi E300 or a Toyota HiAce if you want to buy a van. It's generally cheap and easy to get spare parts and even the last outback garage should be able to work on it.
