nah dont. they arent strong enough, and most dont have clips. most have a bungee cord loop on one end. wouldnt last one big stack.

I've had no breakage apart from that loop part but really hard to tell because it only takes constant loads rather than full bodied yanks. I think the inner elastic would be most likely to go first, the outside seems pretty solid.

the main bit is a tube of webbing.

I'd say it is pretty bloody strong.

Never had a uphaul bread on me besides the elastic end bits. Isn't having a safetly leash a big no no in the work of kiting, sort of like agreeing to have your nether regions detatched by a blunt blade travelling at speed?

mobydisc.
I'm talking about a saftey leash taht connects from the rider to the kite, not to the board...
Most kite specific ones are made to connect to a depower so they dont need to be too strong as when engaged the kite fully depoweres.
Suicide leashes connect straight to the front lines, so when engaged the kite only depoweres very little, It's used by wakestyle riders and riders who unhook alot as they crash kites alot more... and its quicker to relaunch.

does anyone have a spare uphaul laying around that i can load test and see how strong they actually are..?
Thanks

You can make one up pretty easily. You can buy webbing tube by the metre from outdoorsy mountain climby places and shock cord too.

Yeah that shock cord runs up the middle and is usually sewn in. On any uphaul I have seen, you would need to fold the end over and sew it to be able to modify it fit a clip.

Thus, if you can sew webbing then you may as well start from scratch with fresh webbing?

Or get a sailmaker to do one up for you.

look, if you wish to commit suicide don't go to a windsurfing forum as they may suggest you try stand up paddleboarding.
