so what moves are you guys working on at the moment
Or plan to work on this summer. For me it's the water start
Tidying up my top and bottom turns - bottom ones mostly..
Jibes on my little gear (kinda related to the bottom turns I guess!)
and planning to get stuck into loops (okay cheese rolls to start with) this season..
Go the waterstart.. it's a key move - once you have that sorted, the world of windsurfing will open right up for you!
I just want to be able to gybe. Water starts are still a little rough but I can do them. Takes me ages to get sail and board in right position when its choppy
Also flipping the sail in deep water is a bit of an issue.
Here is winter now... but when I resume, it's gonna be simply tacks on my 100l.
I thought I could tack and gybe well until I went to a comp 2 months ago. One of them had incredibly fast and precise tacks. I want that.
(On big boards in lesser winds: riding the rail whilst facing the wind, with the board backwards.)
My main focus right now is getting out of work on windy afternoons.
Otherwise, if it's not windy, I try to tack my shortboards. Jeez, I haven't tacked in 20 years, now everyone's doing them. ![]()
For me its not so much moves, but moving at 40kts, at times it feels impossible to go that fast
You have runs where you are at the limit of everything that's humanly possible within yourself, it feels like 50kts, you look down at your GPS and see 37kts, and think how the hell can I extract another 3 kts
The difference between 35 and 37 seems huge, so how does one go another 3kts faster?? It's my goal so will not rest for the nexst few years chasing it down, though I may have to accept defeat, if I can't get there
Might eventually go back to focus on wavesailing again.
Having fun not hurting myself (to much)
Other than that,
Staying dry when I gybe
40kn on the dial
36kn Nm
The "move" I think about most, is moving closer to the water.
Maybe I'll hang around Decrep's place and when he goes out, I will move in claiming squatters rights, then I will NEVER move BWUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH![]()

Hopefully there will be some wind this summer so I can go sailing. I'd like to use my smaller board more, do screaming broad reaches and go for carve gybes .
Nailed a vulcan last weekend at Sandy (I was soooo close for soooo looooong)... now aiming for Spocks and Flakas (think the Spock might happen way before the Flaka)...
-Sailing coastal locations instead of the river
- Waterstarts
- Gybes
- Bump Jumping
- Maybe beginner mush wave riding
-Quit my job and work on the internet, somehow.
-Recently got the heli tacks, duck gybes, sailing backwinded, nose-sink tacks and sailing backwards happening on a big board...now to try them on a smaller one!
-tacking and gybing in waves/big chop without stuffing up...nah...well maybe someday
Fast tacking a smaller planing board esp.. in chop always useful but difficult.. And of course more consistant carve gybes. Maybe I should do a Peter Hart clinic or Guy Cribb clinic overseas..
i forgot to add that i want to improve my time/placing in the ledge to lano.
Last year i broke the hr this year i want to do it inside 50mins
Carve gybing, but taking the next couple months off windsrufing and doing the downunde series in the laser, Looking forward to getting back, nailing carve gybes and hopefully getting some windabove 15 and moving down a board size and learning some proper freestyle stuff!!
