windsurfin in hedland...

hello,
im going up to port hedland soon and wondering if its possible to windsurf up ther? my mum lived there ages and ages ago and said that shes a seen a few peeps windsurfing. if you can windsurf ther does any ones know wher to go ?

I've only been up there once, and haven't been back since... so I'm no authority on the area, but there are a few threads on this site from windsurfers and kiters. If you search under "hedland" and "headland" for the past year you should get some good info. Check out Karratha and Dampier too.

If you're working up there you'll be lucky to get enough time to go for a sail.. cyclone season should be a hoot though!

I've just got back from working up there. It's deffo windy - over the last 3 weeks I reckon i could've sailed 80% of the days without using a sail bigger than a 5.7. It's dead flat though and by the sounds of things you might want to keep a sharp lookout for some rather big and excessively friendly fishies
