hello, my fellow windsurfers and freinds king of the point and wet willy as I type this late at night my curtains are blowing in the wind. I can feel a great breeze and hear the wind roar through the trees. I wish ya coud windsurf at night its not fair.![]()
does anyone know is it possible to windsurf at night and would night vision work ok?
Or what lights work the best for night vision? I have heard of a few guys at sandy point speed sailing at night with led lights attached to there helmets.
I think in the future we will all be out windsurfing in the dark trying to break speed records. It wont just be those super keen, few dudes, down at sandy point. who sneak out late in the night to try and break the speed record. ![]()
you might be scared of jaws that time of night. well you could get a shark sheild, windsurf on a freash water lake ect..
just a few ideas i have been thinking of as i am a ideas man
oh, i just heard the wind smack my window then. i think its calling me to go windsurfing.
To improve your night vision get some yellow lensed safety glass's, they do help with ambient light.
They also reduce the white light blindness you get when you get a white light in the face.
Your coloured light receptors in your eyes retina's adjust quicker to the dark than the white light receptors.
Kato has speed sailed in the dark with LED torches strapped to his head
Kato is one of the most awesome speed sailors i have ever met. He should be able to answer my qustions the best. can some one try and find him.
how about if you give it a go, and let us know how it goes. Maybe on the open ocean to show your commitment!
And I think in these days of global restraint you need to revise your use of the word "dude".
You are going to exhaust all known stocks of this word rapidly with your posts.

There seem to be a lot of night vision devices out there. I've tried the $25 yellow tinted safety glasses but they don't seem to help much. Night sailing has been popular in the ACT recently, had about half a dozen out very late in wednesday evening's easterly. Derigging isn't easy, got to be careful whose sail you roll up and bag.
Yeah but the only fully waterproof ones are the SEAL's and SAS's ones that are about $6K per unit.... and they are Gen3 or Gen4.
You can't get those for civvy use anyway (even if you could afford it)
Hey windwarning just wait for a full moon you can see really well.
I thought trolls could see in the dark anyway![]()
I did lots of training on the Laser dinghy at night. It's great for your feel, because it forces you to develop a better feel for non-visual cues. Just get some battery-powered waterproof nav lights from a ship's chandlers and she's apples.
It does get bloody cold at 8.30pm in a stinking westerly in August, though!
When those dark ,dark;dark; winter slaps hit you and you are all alone ,you may as well be out befor first light.
Smackin west coast chop waitin for a propper west coast wind warning, wots happing on the where its at polako wos here.
I just tried to get this translated to something comprehensible, but Babel Fish doesn't do Troll-English translations.![]()
