dead easy, just unpick the end of the zipper where it is sown into the board bag and slide the new slider on. Then if you can be bothered sow the end of the zipper back to the boardbag.
Any luggage repair shop will do it for about $10.
The only problem is they will replace the crappy metal slider with another crappy metal slider that will corrode.
What you need are plastic sliders. They never corrode and never wear out.
actually was talking about getting the entire zipper replaced. I went to shop that repairs mountaineering gear. The quote they gave me for a full zipper replacement on a board bag was $350. I left...
I just buy some self adhesive velcro strips and stick it next the non functioning zip. Velcro is heaps better. it never fails and is just as easy to open. i paid once ona surfboard cover for velcro strips and it cost $30
stehsegler,
zip - what about the granny type lady in the local haberdashery (what is that!).
the 'granny' in Manly could do all that stuff. she just retired after about 50 years!!
cheap as.
have you been to Gerroa this season?
Same problem with mine, last weekend I tried Spotlight and Lincraft with no luck.
Suitcase place sounds good. The zip is still perfect so didn't want to go to velcro.
Tell us if you find where to go.
As above, replacing the slider is a lot easier than it looks. Use razor blade to remove part of zipper and slide in the new slider. Assuming the bag has two sliders, when closing the bag, have the two sliders meet in the damaged part.
Do not go to a repair place, they will quote you ridiculous prices.
