1,200 litres / day is 1,600 bottles of 750ml of Strongbow cider - everyday

If only that much strongbow cider could be wasted

If they dont think theres something wrong with 1200lts, then i think they may struggle to grasp your maths equations.

Id give them something visual to understand the situation

I count 20 x 6 1litre bottles per pallet = 120 litres
= 10 pallets/day.

(I really didn't think this topic would make two pages.)

hwhen I get call from my garden customers about huge water bills, I go out , check toilet, then the solenoid valves, then pproceed to do the calculations on how much water they are putting on their lawns. . they eventually realise that that is the price to pay for a 500m lawn in the back and 300 in the front plus garden beds, and no mulch or big shade trees

There is a bukkake world record that may be relevant, but I think you will get them off-side if you mention it.

To be serious though - In WA we pay for water use and that would be expensive.
But the water RATES are the same

Over there on 'toherside, do u as owner pay more for water rates if your tenants use more water?

Just curious

Over here (NSW), at least in the case of the people renting my house, I am responsible for the service charges and sewerage charges, but they are responsible for any water use charges.

So, yes, if the tenants use more, they pay more.

had a faulty retic do this - because it was underground it took quite a bit of investigation to find it

i reckon we created a temporary aquifer under the house!

$900 water bill!!

A faulty retic eh? Will check it out.

Is that something the council might have installed near the or as part of the meter? New meters about six months before this fiasco.

Looking at this another way, were all the places metered together before? In a unit I used to live in, everyone would share equally the cost of the water usage, as there were not separate meters.

If they have changed to new meters, is it a change to individual meters, i.e. they might have always been using this amount, and never knew it.

Hydroponics in the ceiling?

I know you are joking, but you don't actually need much water in a hydroponics setup.

How do you know

I tried it once for growing tomatoes! Yes, that's right, you can use it for growing other stuff.

I have to laugh though, all these places that advertise its still for vegetables, seem to still sell carbon filters and fan setups... hmmm... why would you want a carbon filter on your tomatoes

EvlPanda, have you checked your tenant's toilets' flush.

Ours at home were slowly leaking constantly (it was hard to notice) and since it was fixed, the water consumption was divided by two (and we are 5 leaving in that house)...
What I mean is even a small tiny leak running 24/7 can make a huge difference.

The smallest leak will sink the biggest ship.
