One thing to consider mate (just thinking aloud) would be the flex on your sector 9. The decks on the smoothstars are like standard decks. If you have a super fexy springy sector 9 it might take some of the dynamics of the "thruster" away.
On the smae note it might be sweet as eggs. Let us know how you get on cos I was thinking bout getting a sector 9 to add to the collection and slapping one of those trucks on it. BTW what sector 9 is it you are planning on using?
I have the bamboo fish shape, a bit of flex but not too much. One of my good mates has a really flexy one so I might try them on that as well out of interest.
Funny thing is I got into the reverse kingpin trucks and longboards then just recently scored an old school complete off ebay with superwide standard trucks and soft bushings- the thing carves like nothing else. I am starting to think the shorter wheelbase maybe what makes it happen....
Yeah the shorter the wheelbase, the tighter your turns will be. But you will not need that shortness with these things mate, they are loose as, but you can also adjust the swing on them. Personally I wouldn't go any shorter than the 36 I have (it rides like the old fibreglass bananna boards). Bushes will not make much difference at all to the performance on a smoothstar, I normally have my trucks super loose with soft bushes on a stock skatey, but on the smoothstar they are fairly tight (front tighter than back), and I have the swing set to about 1/2 tight. Dunno If you can see on the webpage, but see if you can get one of the blocks they use for the back trucks while your at it, they are cut in a wedge shape, to allow for the height of the front truck.
Sounds like you got plenty of spares to knock about with anyways ![]()
