We're shopping round for pool for our backyard at the moment. Anyone got any experiences with the various companies in Perth?
So far i've been warned off Aqua Technics and Buccanneer.
Any good experiences?![]()
Met a client about 2 weeks ago who had one installed by Freedom. He wasn't happy that they installed it about 200mm out of square.
No. But be very aware of your obligations regarding local laws. It can cost thousands to gate and pool-proof your place before you even start digging.
Best experience I have had has been in neighbor's pools.
No maintenance pools are the best, convince your buds next door they need one this summer. ![]()
Interesting you have been warned off the two biggest advertisers - hmmmm.
I have no personal experience but been told some of the secondhand ones can be good. They remove (and backfill the hole) very cheap, so when they sell the secondhand pool refurbished it can be a good price.
Think we used to have a future pool (was a while ago). That thing went alright.
Well it was watertight and rectangly ![]()
We have budgeted for all the other bits like fencing and securing windows etc. My wife is the safety police so she was on that before the pool design.
It's such a drama dealing with these companies and you hear of stuff going wrong and some companies stuffing up and not getting levels right etc etc.
The reps are like car yard salespeople.
I'm happy to pay the necessary, I just don't want a nightmare
I agree in part.
However I'm out voted and the domestic majority vote pool.
Oh and don't wait for the pool to bring that carton round.......
From what I've heard and read, people generally get one pool in their home owning life and never another.
I built my pool with a few mates. Best thing we ever did.
Kids just love it to death and in summer never out of the thing. Also i wish we had put in a second pump with spa jets now though. It wasn't really something done back then but that would make it even better. ![]()
I had Bucaneer install a gas heated pool on a smallish block in Subi 11 years ago.Had no issues at all.Jsut make sure you are there to supervise the install as invariably they will use subcontractors (read Irish backpackers).
We used it alot with young kids winter and summer.Doubtless the firm has changed hands 3 or 4 times since then.
Better to put the pool money towards a move to a beachside suburb as you will likely never see it again.
Try to convince them to go for a SPA can be enjoyed all year round and low maintenance.
The fence bullsheet is good but IMO peeps should be responsible enough to teach theire kids to swimm b4 getting a pool maybe???
Why should oldies with no kids forced to have a fence????? Crap!
I was looking at pools some years ago and my favorit was a concrete one that had a gravel beach and big rocks integrated that was making it look like river bed in europe, was a mob in Joondalup (Winton rd.?) and was not expensiver than fibre glass.
A toddler in Armidale NSW drowned in an unfenced pool a couple of years ago. The pool was derilict and in poor condition.
The owner of the pool is being prosecuted with manslaughter over this.
The way the law is used now you'd have to be mad to have an unfenced pool.
PR,
it goes without saying that a pool = less $$ for kites & boards...I only hope your kids are of an age so that they are the ones cleaning the thing so you're not held up at home when the wind is on????
We love our pool
Had it about 4 yrs now.
Its concrete and didn't go in with out incidents
It was sposed to be 6 ft deep and ended up only 5ft![]()
I dont know how nobody noticed this as there was so many trades involved.
I found out when I did my virgin swim....
Not happy Jan....
Its rectangular pool 8 x 3.5
Works out that with out a 6ft end the whole pool is utilized ![]()
Am very happy this mistake occurred as I saved $2000 ( final payment )
Volley ball is great when you can touch the bottom.
Since then two of my friends also got 5ft deep pools...
Any way pools are fun for half the year but I personally dont know anyone who has put one in and been happy with supplier.
