I'm in the process.
I've been doing the work i do since '91. I enjoy it today as much as i did when i first qualified.
However i hit 40 this year and thought why not persue something different.

So i've gone back to uni. Initially i thought well its a chance to career change, set an example for my daughter - now i don't really know but i'm enjoying it :-).

Its full on - studying working and family commitments mean little time for much else but my motivator is that i am so interested in what i am studying. Its a great challenge and i feel that my brain is finally working again.

Just thinking about this myself...

Nearly 28yrs with the same company - senior role, but I've hit a plateau - not necessarily looking for a position higher up the ladder or more money - just something providing a bit more of a challenge, along with a greater sense of job satisfaction - something I want to get out of bed for...

I don't know exactly what I want to do - but I know what I don't want to do. I guess that's a start...

What do small coastal towns need? I thought of a Dollar shop, or grocery store...
I thought about being a chopper pilot crop dusting... but I farked my back and can't sit up straight.
I'd have to do something were I was the boss (my own).

I'd pursue your pilot career mate, I'm doing the same thing but I am younger (18). Have you ever though about flying commercial? Pilots get heaps of time off and make alright money if your up the top. My friend's dad is a 747 captain and lives down the south coast. Qantas pay him to fly from Canberra to Sydney then he flies Syd - L.A. Makes an absolute killing but his gotta be one of the most experienced pilots out there. It allows him to live in a small town extremly comfortably and only have to travel to work around 3 times a months + heaps of time off.
