I ended up getting a Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM... the 60D's not bad, the vari-angle LCD is solid... it's pretty noisy compared to a non dSLR (you can feel the mirror snap back every shot).

The Mrs likes the shallow depth of field pics + the miniature effect.

I have a Fujifilm Finepix S100FS and it's worked OK... I hate Olympus after owning the ??? tough (tough my ass), but they're popular in Japan.
SP-800UZ looks gay too.
My Panasonic FT1 is being repaired. I prefer the menu of the Fuji.

fz100 vs HS10... hmmm.

My heart says HS10, my brain says FZ100 as it has the better spec.

Did I mention I can change the aperture on the 60D while recording HD video?

HS10 eclipses the SP800 from most reports. Have not heard much good about olympus image quality accross the board really.

Very happy with image quality on mine (for the $$) but the menus are painful and take some learning. Wouldn't be so bad if i hadn't bought a Lumix TS2 at the same time (my fuddled head getting confused between two vastly diff menu structures and navigation). The TS2 rubs in just how easy menu structures can be if thought through well enough.

The Fz100 will most likely be easier to operate but if willing to get your head around the HS10 I reckon you will be stoked with long zoom, Vid quality and action shots, which is prob what your after Gracey.

Like I said before the unique manual focus and zoom rings made it an easier choice for me. You might not want those tho?

Hey one notable omisssion on the HS10 is the lack of an LED light for night vids. Caught me out when using the HS10 for wifey's birthday cake vid (so vid was black as Culcutta) and yet is standard on the Lumix TS2.

For grab n shoot i generally grab the Lumix and save the Fuji for speccy stuff with time to fiddle.
