How dumb is this bitch?? She reckons if your motor vehicle is pre 1995, it is a "Klunker"!!!! and has to be taken off the road.
She has a fixation on the number 2.
She says there are 200,000 cars that need to be taken off the road at a cost of $2,000 each and that will reduce our carbon emissions by 200 or 2000 or 2 something tons per annum.
This is obviously some figure she has plucked out of the air in her menopausal head.
So if she gets in the taxpayer, (you and me) is going to buy the worst 200,000 cars in the country for $2,000 a piece.
$40,000,000?? What is that?? Oh it is only 40% of what we borrow weekly, or is it daily. Just a triffle in comparison with the big picture.
Labor!! If you have got nothing, they will give you everything. If you have got something they will take it from you.
Labor will ensure you labour till the day you die!!!
Cisco, you need to get over the fact the PM is a woman. Apart from that, do you think she solely is the one that makes these decisions and not the rest of the party?
Anyhow, despite your rant, someone in the media pointed out that the people in a position to buy a Prius or similar car very rarely have a car that's that old.
It's politics, every party gets the chance to make policy announcements that are either crazy or just unbelievable in the bid to win a vote. Welcome.
Its not as though a gun is put to your head and you are told to get rid of your old car. What is of more concern is the likelyhood that rego is going to be more expensive for older cars because they apparently have higher greenhouse gas emissions.
No one seems to discuss the amount of greenhouse gas emitted in the manufacture of the new cars. Surely its more inline with developing a sustainable system we should keep older cars running in good order than buying a new car every three years.
i likes the school heaters proposal .. 51,00 heaters to replace so they trhrow 450million at the problem .. works out at 9grand perheater .. give me the nine grand and ill install it thanks
Mobydisc, what greenhouse gas do we make by producing cars here ???
Do we still do that , or are all the gasses produced, are by overseas producers,
With the coal we sell them. I would vote for leaving the coal in the ground
Slightly off topic - I watched a training vid of a new commode (VE) crash test @100km/h this week...the front completely crumpled but not a piece of glass broke and the passenger compartment was basically unaffected apart from the doors jamming. Secondly was a 20yr old car & it was obliterated - no chance of survival for the passengers.
I'm pretty sure the emissions of manufacturing a new car would be higher than that produced by the every day running of an older car...it would make more sense for her to aim the legislation at the safety side of things.
An old car is way more environmentally friendly to run it into the ground, than it is to keep getting newer cars.
And most of the people who would sell their car for 2k, are probably not in a position to buy a new car to replace it.
But, could i buy, say 50, $1000 cars now and then if this comes into play, sell them all for $2000 to the government?
It is an XE as in XEllent with the Australian Design Award for the Watts Link Rear Suspension which has been incorporated in the build rules for the V8 Super Cars.
It is a Fairmont too if you don't mind.![]()
There have been no significant improvements in automobile design since 1984 and mostly, the longevtiy of motor vehicles has gone down since then. Many later model vehicles are not even repairable.
The piston engine was the first I.C.E. invented and as such the technology is 150 years old. Why would you put a computer on top of it??
For those that believe the myth of global warming/climate change is fact, a comparison should be made of the "carbon footprint" resulting from the manufacture of new motor vehicles at the frenetic rate it is today, with the "carbon footprint" that would result from repowering existing vehicles with truly environmentally friendly technology.
The oil companies would never allow it but that is what should be happening.
Further, if the authorities were serious about pollution and road safety, they would ban the production of these ridiculously powerful "hot rods" that are so prevalent today. Off road intended four wheel drive vehicles should be banned from use on sealed roads too.
Those concepts are going to get some people "squawking".![]()
Talking of squawking, I had no doubts that the mere mention of the P.M. being a bitch would bring out accusations of sexism from the political correcties and R.Ts. Reel 'em in spinner.![]()
Oh!!! and rangas!!! I love them. Only ever had the good fortune to bed one of them but got close with a couple of others. My favourite celebrity one is Ann Margaret.![]()

Sailhack and Dawn Patrol seem to be on the right track but japie and cwamit have dirty minds.![]()
Re:- "But, could i buy, say 50, $1000 cars now and then if this comes into play, sell them all for $2000 to the government?"
I think you could buy 1,000 of them for $50. Better numbers there.
We can't blame it all on the ranga though. It is typical Labor. Ill conceived band aid policies done on the run, blow the dough. There are still plenty of milkers out there.
But the real bogey man in the bushes is Hill Billy Bob Brown. If he gets the balance of power you can forget about any sort of prosperity for the next decade.![]()
200 000 x 2 000 = 400 000 000
This is FOUR days of borrowing under labor.
Sustainable
Don't worry... It is only 6% of GDP. Just bang it on the credit card... She'll be right.
You watched cash for clunkers in america, sad but again no ones putting any gun to anyones head overthere either. Mate if you happy driving your piece of crap, good luck to you. I owned a worked xe s pack lsd, and it was a fast comfortable car 15 years ago, classic, I doubt it.
it's an OK idea if they buy < 1600cc Australian made cars.
And Cisco u really screwed up on the title it's missing a 0.
Oh and this is hardly original... the US/Japan/most of Europe have done it > once.
So , my car is a 95 landcruiser, I just rebuilt it , threw out the petrol motor (only 20-25ltrs per 100 kms ) put a diesel v8 in, now is down to 12.5 per 100.
everything from the wheels up is new ( oh except the body, smick!), only cost $25,000, drives better than new .
That pointy nosed , fat arsed, supposedly female, ugly redhead wants to give me $2000 for it , she and her labour mates can go suck seagull sh#t , for all I care.
If labour stays in we will need more that a gold credit card and long handled shovel to dig Australia out of the debt that will be created with pathetic ideas like this![]()
2,000....that's a great deal for the old banger, it would just about buy a
reasonable pushbike. So we all graduate to tredley's , asia /china/india/
korea producer many millions of new clunkers that choke the roads to gridlock.
That solves our emission problems and makes us fitter. Chokes to death
many from the third world. Master conspiracy here !!! [}:)]![]()
It could
make the world a better place maybe. ![]()

It is less about the state of most cars and more about the state of the driver's skillz. Spend the $$ on re-testing all drivers every 10 yrs.
And get over that the PM is a sheila. No-one seemed to mind when we had a Gollam for a decade so whassprob? ![]()
Is that the old gillard or the new real gillard that is going to do this ?or was this just a adviser,s idea that the real juilia wont go along with now ?
How stupid does this crafty cow think the bulk of the voter.s are.
Little johnny was a dream compared to this back stabbing red rattler.
and theres no way shes getting my 92mod **** banger for a depsit on a 30000 bucket of bolts.
We know we dont need the parasites. But who here would we vote for for head honcho?
New topic maybe , any takers?
That virgin bloke Branson, or Dick Smith???
