OK, after reading some of the recipes posted here I just wondered about what sort of sandwiches or toasties people have...
I occassionally have toast with a load of butter and vegemite, then top with tinned cheesy spag, and coat with black pepper... Mmmm
Had a mate at high school who ate nothing but white bread lettuce sandwiches...
...then there was this weird kid who had peanut butter and (raw) onion wholemeal sandwiches...
What's your pleasure...?
I don't do it much but I got this from a pommie friend:
Ham, cheese, banana and mayonnaise toasted sanga.
It is surprisingly nice.
stone cold toast.with slabs of butter and a medium smear of vegimite . washed down with some amber fluid . mmm yum
warm mashed potato
onion just cooked until clear
hot english mustard
on fresh white bread with real fatty butter.
Yesterday's leftover roast lamb, sliced thin on bread and butter with plum jam.
Deliciousimoso. If you are out of plum jam, strawberry or rasberry will do.
Also,
Jaffles filled with tinned pineapple pieces and philadelphia cream cheese. Drool!!!
i eat this sandwich after stopping at fruit + veg shop on way to river.
wholemeal roll + banana no spread, cost $1.50
that's why my car is so full of crumbs.
I have a breaky sandwich I do when I want to treat myself.
2 slices of thin rye bread toasted
balsamic and butter cooked mushrooms
baby spinach tossed through a pan with garlic and lemon zest
Thick cut honey smoked bacon
2 poached eggs
crumbled blue cheese
oh man..... I'm going to have one now....its heaven on a plate!
Roast Greek pita or tortilla wraps in pan with olive oil. When done spread hommous on thickly and gobble.
Dry toasted Turkish bread works well too.
Tuna, raw onion, mayonnaise, beetroot. Have had some comments on my breath after this sandwich so have to be careful when I eat it that I don't have to go near anyone for a while after.
There's three or four on here I'm definately going to try (and I reckon my 13yo son will be into the vegemite and twisties sanga big time...).
...keep 'em coming. You only need to find one 'gem' and you've potentially got another favourite.
It is awesome Doggie.
Must be fresh white bread though.
I offered one as a prize here a while back, whoever won declined to accept as west to east mail is a bit slow.

OK - I remembered one I have not had for many years... a once a year treat.
At Christmas, Mum would save all the pan juices from the roast turkey, put into a bowl and put into the fridge to set (like a jelly). In the morning, you'd scrape off the layer of fat, and chop up the jelly and put on top of vegemite toast with a little pepper. It looked like dog's vomit, but it was absolute heaven.
It's called Turkey dripping - and might be a pommie thing...
Reckon it'd be 10 years since I've had it - as we don't seem to do a roast turkery anymore...
