I'm keeping my eye on my local beachie for the right conditions.

I wonder if a Tutu will work?

I'll look pretty good dancing up and down the beach jumping in the air waiting to be lifted by the waves.

Do you think it would work better if I reduce my weight by not wearing anything other than the tutu?

I'm trying to learn the language and decipher meanings of swell, tides and wind direction - please be patient.

[
.....was a professional dancer who was able to combine a leap in the air with single and double pirouettes and time it so that the air expelled by the wave caught under her skirt and ballooned it out - this meant that the weaker waves held her in place longer than usual at the apex of her leap and the strongest ones lifted her higher. The number of rotations she could get from the strongest waves was mindblowing.

For this one you need to post in the kitesurfing forum

Can anyone define "big swell" please?? If I'm looking for head height waves or over, what kind of numbers am I looking for in the graphs?? Thanks for all the help so far.

Surely any weight reduction would be an advantage.
Perhaps if you paired up with a buddy and skipped holding hands along the shoreline
this would double your chances of some airtime!

Ah 'missie , you're a Pup heartbreaker
Big Swell = Big Waves (GOOD)
Reading Graphs = Frustration.(can be better to listen to radio station surf report or better a mate already out there to text you that it's sweet)

Anywhere from Secrets to Madora on about a 2meter swell, look for where wave lines on sand are furtherest towards dunes and hang around for sets. Be sure to follow safe landing proceders while up there.

Make that more like 3meter + swell actually

Yes, I considered that. 2 x "Buddies" in the nude except for Tutu's dancing on the beach holding hands. The 'lift' from the waves would feel great, maybe tingly as well!

Lucky I live on the Gold Coast, that kind of thing would hardly raise an eyelid around here.

Very interesting, not sure I'd want to try jumping over a head high wave breaking in a couple of centimetres of water, could get very uncomfortable, especially in a skirt!

A lot of us have launched in shorebreaks, not that I've ever done it in more than waist high, but can't say I've noticed any updraft when the wave breaks.
You'd think this would be noticeable on the rig.

Does wind direction/strength have any bearing?
Off shore certainly creates an updraft on unbroken waves, but can't see the wave breaking increasing that???

So the twirler is supported by air pressure, applied to the skirt?

What stops the skirt from, well, you know, being blown up around her head?

I just can't see how any meaningful force could be applied to a skirt without it collapsing upwards.

But I reserve the right to inspect any videos closely [}:)]

I usually find it is really hard to get them to blow upwards.
Willing it to happen seems to not work
We need a subway system.

Would have been a sandy tutu after that.

For the record they are called Shories or 'Shore Breaks' here in Aus, not "Dumpers", Dumpers are wayward bogans who dont know what civilisation is (as in, they dump their garbage anywhere), or it could mean a big Poo. (that stupid cu^t from Bar beach houso took a big dump on Cliff steps)
