So.... Cooking the kids dinner, nice plump lamb chops fried in a small cast iron pan. Serve it up and there is a centimeter of sizzling hot fat. I notice that a slice of fresh white bread would fit perfectly. Three seconds on each side. Mmmmmmmmmm. I can already feel my arteries hardening, will I go tonight or do I still have a couple of sessions left in me?

Atherosclerosis is the build up of plaque caused by excessive cholesterol. This causes

heart attacks by blocking the cardiac arteries and occluding blood supply, thereby

robbing the heart cells of oxygen. The interesting thing is that atherosclerosis is

systemic. In other words it effects ALL the body's arteries. About 70% of heart

attack victims (in a recent study) reported an inability to attain an erection two

years prior to their myocardial infarct. The blood vessels of the penis are narrower

than the cardiac arteries and it seems that they may block first. This may give

some early warning of when to lay off the bacon.

I thought thousand island dressing was a mixture of mayonaise and tomato sauce, could be wrong, but isn't mayo eggs mixed with oil? Can't really be 99.9 can it?

Well it says 98% fat free but I added the 1% to balance error in the labelling!

Humans have an affliction to things that taste sweet, salty and fatty. If your food has any of these things , it's going to taste good and you'll want more of it.

The tub of "dripping" - which is the leftover fat from roasts - was a fixture in most houses where I grew up.

There was nothing better than a piece of toast with a thick layer of dripping with lots of salt and pepper for an after school snack.....

I wouldn't eat it now though -- yuk!!!

early november we were at kangaroo island for our tenth anniversary,

local bloke there moans about the problems with escaped marron from commercial operations that have gone feral on the island.

direct opposite to W.A.
they are not allowed to throw back any marron caught- and there are plenty of huge marron!, but yabbies are restricted.

also have feral pig, and deer too.

there is a healthy population of fat hunters to be found on kangaroo island!

For what it's worth, I used grated carrot in stockings for the first time, with a few dog biscuits. Worked a treat.

White sugar is poison. You would be better off eating the fat from Lamb chops than puting sugar in a coffee/tea. I had no idea just how bad white sugar is until I went through withdrawals. No sugar in cooking/tea/coffee and it has been a challenge finding ready made foods that I can eat that are sans sugar.

Paddymac, that sounds like a low fat snack; but does the stocking get caught in your teeth?

I have often wondered how hard giving up sugar would be, how long did it take to for the cravings to stop? did you use a substitute or go cold turkey?

As a kid we had grilled lamb chops at least once a week. The best part was getting some bread and wiping it on the crunch/fatty residue left on the top of the grill tray (most of the fat dripped through below). The pure fat version this weekend was good but not as good as the grill.

GypsyD... mushies with heaps of butter and heaps of salt... very hard to beat!

Have a look at these beauties
