I stopped last week and every day I wake up feeling pissed off, I hate everyone, except our new puppy.
How long will this last?
that may explain a lot...........
best of luck on yr mission - 3 weeks should cover you well. The first week will be the worst by some distance. What method you using?
Good luck!!!!
rellie is right, I no longer smoke and I have been able to cut down on the masturbation to six times a day...
that may sound a lot but the last one takes me well over two hours to rub out ....
good luck ollie, I reckon you will make it....
you seem like a natural born wanker
This time I'm on nicobate 2mg captuals. I didn't smoke too much - maybe 5 a day, but I'd rip off the filters. I've given up lots of times before, once I gave up for two years. The casuals do help with the cravings - never used them before. However, when I wake up I hate everyone and everything. Lately I have this really strong and unhealthy urge to tell my boss to go suck my dick.
I took a couple of sickies, cause I realized my thoughts were unhealthy and detrimental.
Hang in the oliver, it gets better.
No matter what, it gets better
(was a 1.5 pack a day smoker until my 40's)
Couple of things to avoid, dont hang about with your mates when they stop for a smoke, particularly when having a beer or two. Tough but its easing the pain by keeping away for a while.
If you crack, then start again directly.
Couple of things you will do is look for the smokes, like patting your pocket. That will fade. ![]()
You will ask those around you all about strange fresh smells, that's cos the system isn't clogged up. ![]()
Don't listen to theDoctor, he sounds like he has given them away as well, and slamming all over forums![]()
Suggest that you always class yourself as a smoker and feel the power of your self-control about not having one. I was a three packet-a-day smoker and have been "on the wagon" for 25 years. My last one really made my head "spin". Just shows the c#@p in those things.
Best part is that you can laugh and not end up coughing.
Stick with it; it will be your best move ever.
Keep loving your puppy.
Just do it, dont be a pussy.. I can tell you first hand its a painful and revoulting way to die,, they said she had 50% chance of living 5yrs,, dead in 3 months
Take up exercise something that will remind you that you need your lungs.
So running, cycling etc. Not only will it make you curse the day you started smoking and hopefully stop you from relapsing it will get those endorphines going and make you feel chipper.
Start slow work your way up
Good luck ![]()
I was never a heavy smoker but for a few years I used to smoke cigarettes regularly. No real help about giving up besides eating something like an orange whenever you have the desire to have a smoke. It gives your hands something to do and the taste while not satisfying the desire for a cigarette, gives your mind something else to think about.
Dont drink alcohol when you are giving up, especially beer or wine!!
When I quit years ago I didnt have a drink for a month. I was super cranky which my work mates and family will swear to but this eases after a couple of weeks.
Exercise but dont eat to take your mind off the ciggies.
Your biggest determining factor will be that you WANT to give up, not "aw bugger, Ill just try for awhile and see how I go". You will fail with this mindset.
after days the crap is nearly all out of your system, you just have to do the MIND thing, WILLPOWER is it!!!!!!!!
Best of luck, best thing you will ever do!!!
change your habits.
different break times,
different lunch times.
regular time outs.
your body will adjust
I was a 60 a day smoker. Quit cold turkey.
When you 'want' that smoke, pour yourself a drink of water - replaces the act of getting out and lighting a cigarette, sip it slowly - replaces the act of sucking that foul muck into your lungs and is doing you good by hydrating you.
What ever your method keep at it as it is the mental attitude which will enable you to succeed.
The first week was the hardest for me until I changed the cigarette smoking habit for a water drinking habit.
The tips above sound pretty good.
The best one I have heard is that you don't say "I'm giving up smoking." You say "I have given up smoking."
You call yourself a non-smoker or an ex-smoker or whatever you want.
The point is, if you say you're giving up and crack and have a smoke then you tell yourself that you have failed and you are now a smoker again and you're back to a pack a day.
If you say you're a non-smoker then that one cigarette is an aberration and you can get over it and continue on trying to not smoke.
The other thing is to channel your anger and hatred towards smoking and smokers. That's what the rest of us do. Repeat after me, "Smokers are littering, foul smelling, inconsiderate, pox-ridden criminals." Doesn't that feel better. ![]()
I gave it up decades ago probably the hardest thing I ever did
It was a total shock to me to realise how addicted I was to the things
I cracked quite a few times but the important thing I think is not let it stop you carrying on giving it up Some times toward the end I would take a couple of puffs when it got too much for me and then throw it away now the smell of one just about makes me puke Good luck with it its worth it
Hey oliver,I just stopped too, 4 days now.
If you dont hate everyone enough,,,I wil help if you like.[}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)][}:)]
My heads all fuzzy, cant think or concentrate.
For me the key is to keep busy, soon as I sit down and do nothing I start to crave.
My house has never been so clean, yard mowed to perfection, hell I even gave the shed a clean out and sorted the bucket of screws into sizes and type.![]()
The biggest thing I have noticed is I can smell things,,I didnt realise I couldnt before.
Run,run till you feel sick and your lungs hurt, keep running till your fit and the cigs will simply repulse you.(the chest pain bit may not be sound medical advice).
nicotine is a scary addiction....I gave up smoking 35 years ago and I could lite up a bunger right now...I gave it up mentally because I thought it impossible to give it up physically....keep telling yourself you have more intelligence than to smoke...and after awhile you will feel like an idiot if you lite up...it's a mind set...physically your hooked for life, but if you get on top of it mentally, one day you will just forget that you were a smoker...takes a long time but it's well worth it...good luck...you will need it.
How dumb do u hav to be to START smoking when ur the wrong side of 30.
Most of my mates are in their early 20s and smoke like chimneys.
I gave in to peer pressure on holiday a few weeks ago.
Smoking makes me feel happier, more chatty with people, more relaxed, I can drive when going out, no hangovers. Even work is more tolerable.
Is it really worse than drinking socially?
I know it's really bad and at the point where I can choose to stop.....
