LED TV's - a public service announcement!

It's all sets, probably the newer they are the more likely they are to be set wrong. It normally takes about 5 minutes of going through the menus to sort it out.

Bought a set top box 6 months ago, you know, the things you buy if you have an older TV so you can pick up the new digital channels. And you know what? It didn't have a 4:3 setting! And as this box would have been bought mostly by people with older 4:3 TV's, it's pretty much useless unless you like watching stick figures. I took it back and swapped it for one that did have a 4:3 setting.

The funny thing is that most people simply don't notice it when the picture is stretched... go into any pub and there's a 50:50 chance that the aspect ratio on their fancy big widescreen TV will be set wrong. And everyone is watching away, with no idea that it's wrong.

Whoops, make that 40inch - anyway it's HD and like Gorgo we have a PVR that tapes most of the programs we watch (flick through the ads) which is awesome!!

I feel bad not having one

How about the people with the new hi-fi and they say "Listen to how loud it goes!!!", and then they turn up Pink and all that compression goes super distorted and super muddy and they are grinning at you like a dog that just ate its own ****?

I swear these are the same people that at a party will offer you financial or life advice, even though they have 2 ex wives, 5 kids, and no assets except an iPhone they bought to look technical...

"Oh, you're in I.T.? Hey I've got this idea for a web page, like the new FaceBook but you sell stuff on it. I can't say anymore than that because this guy I know, genius he is, he is still working on the formula. But it's all about opportunity right? Everything is. We are going to go world-wide! Sell everything! Do you do advertising? We need to do like 3 line ads all over the Internet. Do you want some part-time work? How much do you charge?"
