When do you think authorities will take action about shark attacks.![]()
Today there has been 2 attacks, one in NSW and the other in Tassy. Both sound very lucky to escape the jaws of death.
I laugh in the face of these morons that say we have no data showing an increase in shark activity. I personally have friends that have fished for 25 years in the same waters, they continually tell me the sightings are getting more and more every year.
These people that try and state unfounded facts. like they come up from deep water and attack B*******T, tell that to Ken crews family. Another I'ver heard is they don't actually like human flesh, great I'll just go let Brian Guest's family know. I mean seriously the pricks have been found to have rego plates and all sorts in their guts, they are scavengers and will take any easy prey. Another one is theres no proof they return to area where they have already had an easy kill, yeah right they travel in patterns I've followed the ones that where being tracked by GPS in Esperance a few years back. Those beast's followed a set path and traveled in a figure 8 pattern returning to exactly the same haunts on each lap.
I've been flamed in other topics on sharks in this forum, obviously that doesn't bother me in the slightest. I'm posing the question that when will something proactive be done
Lets see what will happen if a politicians family gets harmed, or another 10 attacks occur before the end of summer.
Look at why they are protected in the first place.... Someone came up with some figures from research about 15 years ago saying that at the time there was only 20 whites left in SA waters. That could have and probably was a crock of sh!t, wheres the detailed report, who was involved and how many hours dedicated, what recommendations where put forward as to when the ban should be lifted.
Anyhow, flame me, red thumb me, I don't really care anymore.
As my usernam said, take up another sport, when are you going to get it, sharks are the top of the food chain when you hop in that water, not us. We are already destroying enough wildlife on land, and the seas, does indescriminate killing solve the problem? Even tagging, is that going to stop an attack, i doubt it.Just leave them be !
You could get yourself one of these:

The suit that is! ![]()
Sharks should be made to pay registration to an organising body. They will have to wear a tag with a registration number, and renew it annually. In order to be a shark, there needs to be a compulsory training course so they know how to be sharks without harming or endangering other water users. In return for their registration, they will be covered by a public liability insurance. This won't actually help anything, because it'll be the irresponsible visiting sharks from other areas that will be causing all the problems.
They're really starting to piss off the clubbies, and something serious needs to happen. Maybe someone should get some signs put up to warn them not to shark in particular areas?
Sharking is obviously Very Dangerous, and should be banned from popular beaches..![]()
The hysteria that accompanies shark attacks always gives me the ****s. Human beings are like a pack of sheep, ****ing stupid. The same mentality that spends time following the exploits of morally defunct actors.
I have swum in the ocean for 40 years, always been aware that there are many nasties, coming originally from Tanzania. However the sheer statistics dictate that swimming in the ocean is by far and away safer than getting to the beach by car. We don't avoid cars do we? Nor are we, unfortunately culling them as some clowns suggest we should be doing with sharks.
If you get the opportunity, watch this movie
BTW I should make it clear, I'm not generalising about sharks. I'm specifically talking about White Pointers.
I feel strongly about the question of did they imposed a ban on the killing of whites without some kind of action plan. Meaning when they protected them an ongoing process should have been put in place to see firstly whether the ban is working. Secondly should the ban be indefinite or can it be lifted at some stage.
Things become extinct - the Tassie Tiger, the Dodo, the freakin' dinosaurs for pete's sake - and lots of species we don't even know about. It's sad but it's life - and the world goes on.
Of course we want to preserve nature when we can, in part to make up for how much of the world we have damaged already, but honestly what would be the harm in wiping out all the so-called "man-eating" species of sharks? Even if they're not really "man eaters"; just the ones which HAPPEN to kill and maim people?
I think it would cease to be a moral or environmental issue the second you realised that all your hopes and dreams were about to be destroyed in the jaws of a giant hunk of muscle with sharp teeth and fins, for no good reason.
Sharks are like terrorists. They kill good people for no decent reason or useful purpose whatsoever.
F### 'em, I say. Death's too good for them.
I don't think there was a need to copy and paste the photo here Richiefish.
GreenPat's comment was enough to stimulate y'all to go to the site for a look.
This is our watersports site/forum......go do your perving elsewhere.
Smooch- is it relevant to the topic and is it not a revealing pic. I see more revealing stuff in the Target and Big W catalogues in my mail.
Go protest about them, prude.
Go Sammy J!
Love to see a man with the guts to stand against the crowd.
Especially so when the crowd is irrational
Why dont we just wrap ourselves in cotton wool and just sit at home watching telly? No Wait!!! Radiation from the tv may get us!
All joking aside, having dived with sharks, had sharks steal fish from the end of my spear while spearfishing etc, I dont see them as a serious threat. Just treat them with the respect they deserve and be sensible in the water ie. sharks feed more around dawn/dusk, they can tend to feed at mouths of rivers estuaries on falling tides etc etc. I am sure you can research a lot more on their habits if you want.
Having gone a couple of rounds with cancer/chemo etc and come out the other side ok, the risks of swimming, sailing, diving in the oceans are ones I am prepared to take to actually live life. If a shark gets me at least its doing something I love.
Another point of view not yet mentioned is that all these attacks and sightings are bound to be making headlines around the world. If , and I'm not saying there should be some sort culling of the ones that do the attacking(how they would be sure of getting the right culprit?) would this ease the minds of the thousands of tourists that come here to enjoy our love of the water like we do.
All the publicity we are getting around the world may make an impact on what is an increasingly struggling econemy.Hopefully travellers will look past the news of recent weeks and still come too enjoy this fantastic land in which we live.
By the way I might just add , have just spent 5 mths in Exmouth where lots of people I knew dived and spearfished with the abundance of sharks in the water there ,and it is not an issue ......I wonder if this is because there is plenty of fish for them to eat , or is it because I didnt know anyone who took fish oil tablets, unlike the droves down here that take them daily , maybe that makes them smell like food??
