Whats the point of 99.99999999999999999% of the 4wdrives in Australia?

Do you really need a 4wd for the 400 metre trip to school for the 2.1 overweight kids,
Do you really need a 4wd to carry the weekly collection of plastic bags and excess packaging from the shops?

I can understand tradies needing to carry or tow needing a 4wd, or farmers, or those into ourdoorsy stuff like fishing, anything related to seabreezing, hunting, off roading etc, but realistically- mum does not need 2 gearboxes and 2 diffs, and a set of 32" mudcrawler tyres for domestic trundling to schools and shops.

We have a genetic misfit that drives around our sleepy country town in a lowered Hilux ute, with a big UNIT sticker on the back window and "we grew here you flew here" sticker on the windscreen. We only have one set of traffic lights in town but one day he will pull up at them and a Tarago full of Tongans will pull this Fwit apart like a hot chook

Lowered Hilux, those two words dont go together

There is plenty of lowered Hilux utes over here Doggie, not lowered 4wd Hiluxes, single cab ones with 17 in mags and low profile tyres tacho on the dash flames up the sides

That's called a Lowlux fellas

We call them Toorak Tractors down here.

Usually driven by mums, and bought by overly protective Dads......

Take a drive up High St in Windsor / Armadale.... both sides of BMW and Range R SUV's........ black, low prof mags.... ready at any moment to do something erratic, because you don't need to take as much care when you know you are in a total airbagged vehicle..............

I know for a fact that at least one of the X5 BMW's that I see regularly around my area (suburban East Freo) must belong to a farmer 'cos the number plate is EIEIO

Then maybe their surname is McDonald....

It's so people don't have to bend over when putting the kids in/out the car.

This is so ****ing lazy it is frankly disgusting. I love teasing people, and I do, that have splashed out an a more expensive vehicle simply because they are that lazy.

I heard that the couple who created these things live in Braybrook Victoria and have become rich beyond their wildest dreams from selling them online. I saw them all over the U.S. when I was there. Just goes to show how the dumbest ideas can make you a fortune.

Got to love the google machine: http://news.drive.com.au/drive/motor-news/despite-the-criticism-creative-couple-stick-by-bumper-idea-20111025-1mi8j.html
