Left Perth just before 8pm to go up the coast for a night and a day.
As soon as I arrived my wife was trying to ring around 10pm but reception was patchy. I received a message from my wife that a car had gone through our bedroom, that her and both kids were OK and to get home ASAP.
I drove back as efficiently as possible (fanged it).

A car has narrowly missed hitting a woman and her five-year-old son while they were sleeping in their home in the northern Perth suburb of Heathridge.
The car crashed through the front yard before veering into the master bedroom of the home on Dummer Way on Friday night.
The woman and her child were asleep at the time and were not injured.
An 18-year-old man from Heathridge was arrested at the scene.
Police say he may face drink driving and reckless driving charges, but has been released pending further inquiries.

Good luck with repairs etc - piffling stuff after a close call like that. Can't replace the fam.
I know the clean-up and repairs will be a massive pain and cause a lot of aggro and upset - but just remember how lucky you (all) have been... VERY!!

This was the something like how it went:
She was trapped in the dark bedroom full of cement dust and didn't know what was going on. She spent five minutes dazed and confused digging through the brick rubble to find her Mum's dog, or what was left. After digging she realised that the dog wasn't under the rubble on her normal place at the end of the bed and must of escaped before the car hit.
Our 5 month olds cot was smashed up against the wall with the wardrobe door blocking the exit. The 5 month year old has just started sleeping in her own bedroom cot (different room) several days ago so she was safe. Phew...
Wifey found the light switch and rang her friend to please help her. Her friend sent hubby who fanged there in 23.5 seconds. I don't think the gathering of neighbours outside thought anyone was home. The group of youngsters were concerned with the damage to the car! Together with a local SES guy friends hubby went inside and grabbed my still sleeping son out of the damaged room and onto his new makeshift bed on the otherside of the house on the loungeroom couch and consoled Wifey.

You probably have heaps of damage and lots to fix up, all cause of some stupid drunk driver. It's not fair.
The car is still there 24 hours later! Bogged on my back lawn during a failed reverse burnout escape attempt.
A friend of the owner crashed the car. I would have moved it ASAP rather than see my sons smashed car all over the news for the world to see.
Upon our urgent insistence and that of the Ranger they said they will come and get the car sometime before 6pm tomorrow.
Given that the car is a reminder for my traumatised wife of escaping life changing consequences, I would have thought a reasonable person would get it towed away within 30 minutes maybe an hour. KOOKS...
The driver ploughed through our fence and into the bedroom where my wife and 5 year old boy were sleeping. (No black marks to indicate braking)
He then did a reverse burnout backwards escape attempt and smashed cubby and the remainder of the wall.
Stuck on rubble and bogged the driver ran away.
This was our 5 month olds cot until very recently. We moved her into her own bedroom.
WOW - there certainly are easier ways to earn your 5 minutes of fame...

We live near a cul de sac. To put this freak event and premium quality driving incompetence in to context, I took photos of the spinning wheel marks from the crash to where they started a 100m away. I saw no evidence of brake marks!
Here are the photos in reverse order. From the start of the burnout, up an embankment to smashing through our front fence and into our house at right angles to the road! The car then did a reverse burnout on an angle away from the house and smashed the remaining wall before becoming bogged and stuck.
P platers should be restricted to a maximum kw rating. It would be pretty hard to do that in a Toyota Corolla!
Motorbike riders are restricted to 250cc in their first year, why not car drivers?
We live in Connolly, next door to Heathridge and are finding it more and more common with people driving like idiots around here.

Start gathering your evidence including police reports now.
If the bloke tried to do a runner it should be treated as a "hit and run" offence and I hope they stitch him up good.
It happened Friday night Cisco. The 'process' started in the early hours of Saturday morning. Full marks to my wife. She has been diligently paying insurance through the good years and the battling years every month for 10 years.
I'd wish you could find were the driver lived.
We've all made mistakes on the road at some stage,but like everyone else I'm glad the family is ok.
Once it's all blown over, imagine knocking on their front door with bubs and saying, this is what you nearly hit. That would sober anyone up, and their mates.
No more burnouts hopefully.

According to the SES neighbour the driver ran away after failing to reverse away while his friends ran toward the crash scene.
The SES neighbour said to the group of youngsters it would be in their best interests to get their friend back here ASAP before the Police arrived. He said he saw them all on their phones ringing the driver urging him to go back. Driver returned in time and was taken away by the police.
The drivers Mum and sister came over this morning. I answered the door with my cute little bubs in my arms. She looked very distressed and was very apologetic for her sons behavior. I wasn't interested in building a relationship but I thought it was gutsy to rock up to a strangers house that her son ploughed a car into while not knowing if she would be in physical danger or not. She and my wife spoke in a civil manner considering they were both very distressed. Doesn't change anything but taking full responsibility is a positive gesture.
So Elroy, how the **** did you stop from putting this peanut in hospital???

Happy to see no one was hurt! The little **** should get a good flogging.... take his drivers for a few years as a minimum and make him to pay some sort of compensation it is not fair to get the insurance to pickup the bill! But I guess your insurance will pursue that matter with him!

Best situation is the little selfish **** gets a hefty fine, loses licence for a year and most importantly learns to only do that sh!t on Xbox! And recommends the same to the mates.
Worst case is the little **** continues to shirk responsibility and grows up to be a total waste of oxygen and a danger to everyone around him.
Pity they encouraged the tuuurd to return to the scene. Book would have been closed, thrown and punishment on a BIG scale automatically.

It's is so obvious it is laughable that we don't have it when there is so many ads and $$$ spent focus on road safety.
