Hi,
This is my new Folio website. Let me know if you see any errors or anything you suggest.
Hope you like it.
Seb
(Please note i haven't added the pages in the folio section yet,90% finished)
Nice, but I found it odd that the pics / pages scrolled at different rates over one another, a bit off putting.
Here is a web site from a local video production company that seems to look nice and works well.http://www.urbancine.com/index.htm
thanks for your thoughts.
Its my portfolio and some of the products are being sold by other companies (who do not sell online, so its just a contact)
I have not yet updated the "folio " section so if you click on an image it is still blank..updating tonight.

I paid $40 for said effect Lol.
I like it. I like the overall feel and look. The site makes sense to me in general, it's a portfolio...
The 'buy it now' / 'buy it here' made less sense, but I don't know what you'd write instead for the links... Maybe 'link'
The second two columns under the 'what I can do for you' section need to be reworded, I assume they we written quickly...
I assume the favicon is coming... And what's up with the @gmail address, why not use google apps?
But, generally I thought it looked really good! Nice work!
Wish my site looked that good... I'm in the process of redoing it myself, but I'm not a web guy...
And what's up with the @gmail address, why not use google apps?
GApps costs money now.
takes far too long to load on my connection. Preparing for the NBN are you?
A website that takes more than 10 seconds to load is never a good thing. Im actually still stuck on 90% as im typing this. Actually the page never left 90% until I refreshed then it quickly went to 100%. Buggy.
I like the scrolling effects, although sometimes you lose contrast between the text and background making the text hard to read.
It certainly is 'out there'. Nice work

That feedback was really helpful, thanks!

yeah its weird cos on some pc's its pretty fast.I wouldn't know how to fix that. It is buggy i agree :(
It is mostly form a pre-made template.
Good to know thanks.

I didn't know anything about websites before i started in this last week really.
If you PM me i can make a simple explanation for you , no problemo.
Basically, Wordpress, find a theme (theme forest) Get a domain and host from Godaddy. Voila, website in a couple of days.
I like it and the way it is set up![]()
Love the scroll effect.
I will show this to my Year 11 AIT students if that is ok??
There's way too much going on in this website. There's some nice graphics and images but the scrolling does not work very well as it clashes with the background at times and leaves me wondering what I am looking at. I would suggest simplifying it.

Sure thing :)

Wonder screen res are you using?
I am on a 24" screen at 1920 x 1080 i think maybe smaller screen may be weird...
thanks for feedback though.

It probably accurately reflects whats going on in my head then :)
Sebastian
I really liked the site.
My observations...
I dominantly use Opera browser - once passed the first page it all worked fine. A refresh and all the scrolling from the front page worked too - I have a strong suspicion this is how the template structure loads - so until the complete data set is downloaded it will not scroll properly. What to do -- well if you make the first page your current second page = a distraction for visual browsing it may give enough time before someone wants to scroll / move further into the site.
If U own the domain why not use your own email structures instead of gmail?
The show all on page 2 - have you tried making the individual pictures smaller not thumb nail but in between the current size gives eye candy but distracts at the same time so probably trying to show too much detail when this is the item/page display's job.
The awards & press page does not scale and forces full screen width to display correctly - an analogy all the pages except this one are portrait this is landscape.
If you want to sell web work keep it simple and clean or 100% schmick = perfection. As a potential client I would wonder if your site is not 100% then what are U likely to give me...
But I really liked the site - a lot for its content (U R a smart guy
) - the template ok but the same is achievable without the scroll/rolling.
Cheers

GApps costs money now.
$50/user/year, not a huge cost for most businesses, and so much more professional. If you are a one man band, you can use aliases for alternative addresses such as 'accounts' 'info' etc... and still just pay $50.
Of course you could go Crazy Domains or something for a fraction of the cost, but I guarantee you will lose that saving the first time you need to take and hour or more out of your day to call support when it stops working...

I use Google Apps (email, drive, collaboration), App Engine (host my sites)... I have my domain with "mydomain", it's very easy to play with DNS and usually replicates within an hour; ONLY problem so far are SRV records for Office 365 Lync, and no support for sub subdomain CNames/Aliases eg: sub2.sub1.domain.com, so it makes it impossible to have Office 365 + GApps on the same domain.
My company doesn't pay for Office 365 (E3) or Google Apps/Engine, and Amazon Web Services gives me coupons now and again
... where there's a will there's a way.

Interesting. Heard you could host your site with google, hadn't looked into how... My current site is Wordpress, and I'm in the process of creating a Joomla based site to replace it, so no Google hosting for me...
Why do you want to use 365 and Google apps? I'm curious... For 365 Lync? What is 365 Lync like?
Cheers.
Cool content - not the best website imo - very glitchy & basic (sorry, I hope it's not yours as I didn't mean to offend).
As for the original poster (Seebreezeb) - great attitude & response to the varying replies - I'm sure with your attitude you'll get that website looking great, although you've done well so far!![]()
