For my part I would say that making money isn't the aim of my life, but then I don't complain about other people who have that life goal.

She doesn't run a child labour factory. She takes a percentage of the revenue of some of the Pilbara iron ore miners, who they themselves pay slightly better than minimum wage.

She then decided to develop an iron ore mine herself. First she needs to raise $10 billion. If you had the guts to go raise $10 billion you too could build an iron ore mine.

What I find interesting is that $10 billion comes from the chinese government, not the Aussie government. Why doesn't the Ausssie government offer to lend to people to develop australian infrastruture ? They have record low bond costs, everyone wants Aussie bonds. Sell a few bonds to the chinese and lend the money to Gina at greater than the bond rate interest. Take 15% in the venture. It would return far more to the average aussie than sitting back and letting the Chinese government do it.

Give every aussie $10k today and then tax them tomorrow to pay the money back, or lend Gina $10b at 10% interest, raised on bonds you pay 3% interest on, then also take revenue from the resource sales and then pay every aussie $10k every year for the next 80 years, not with borrowed money but with tax cuts that are 100% sustainable.

Perhaps you could also argue it is the high dollar and the relative minimum wage, rather than the real minimum wage, I am not sure. Perhaps you got some figures on cost of living vs minimum wage in developed nations Doc ?

Maybe, or maybe there is no cash in the trust. She has been sole administrator and is now fighting the beneficaries in court over access to the documents and records. Why do that ? Why not show them the records and show them how they are better off not giving 50% to the taxman. Why hide it from them ? Why haven't they been administrators of their own trust - does she think her kids are too dumb to manage their own lives - why not let they play with $1 billion in a trust in a managed, assisted and 'safe way' before they get the actual cash - is she acknowledging she failed to raise her children to be able to live in the world she created for them ?
