Got emailed this and found it to be a good read...
"The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living"
This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. It's her future she's worried about and this is how she feels about the social welfare system that she's being forced to live in! These solutions are just common sense in her opinion.
Put me in charge . . ..
Put me in charge of Centrelink payments. I'd get rid of cash payments and provide vouchers for 50kg bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese, basic sanitary items and all the powdered milk you can use.
If you want steak, burgers, takeaway and junk food, then get a job.
Put me in charge of Medicare. The first thing I'd do is to get women to have birth control implants.
Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine. If you want to reproduce, use drugs, drink alcohol or smoke, then get a job.
Put me in charge of government housing. Ever live in military barracks?
You will maintain our property in a clean and good state of repair.
Your "home" will be subject to inspections anytime and possessions will be inventoried.
If you want a plasma TV or Xbox 360, then get a job and your own place.
Put me in charge of compulsory job search. You will either search for employment each week no matter what the job or you will report for community work.
This may be clearing the roadways and open spaces of rubbish, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you.
We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your dooff dooff stereo and speakers and put that money toward the “common good..”
Before you write that I've violated someone's rights, realise that all of the above is voluntary.
If you want our hard earned cash and housing assistance, accept our rules..
Before you say that this would be "demeaning" and ruin someones "self esteem," consider that it wasn't that long ago that taking someone else's money for doing absolutely nothing was demeaning and lowered self esteem.
If we are expected to pay for other people's mistakes we should at least attempt to make them learn from their bad choices. The current system rewards those for continuing to make bad choices.
AND While you are on Centrelink income you no longer have the right to VOTE!
For you to vote would be a conflict of interest..... If you want to vote, then get a job.
When did the NFI* party establish itself?
* NFI. no ****ing idea..
No wonder we have muppets leading the country when people actually believe this type of rubbish. I have taken ****s that had more thought go into them than this drivel. Probably better content to.
She seems to be forgetting that when you count the number of jobless and count the number of jobs available there is a massive shortfall like 20,000 jobs but 1,000,000 wanting one. Study economics and you find out its never going to work.
Hopefully for her sake she never becomes unemployed, sick or old.
Some of her ideas are kind of okay in a "I'm alright Jack" sort of way, however in the end it would cost more than having the system we have now. It would be cheaper to give people $200 a week than to give them food and stuff. Plus plenty of businesses rely on people spending their welfare money. With card systems they are trialling, small businesses miss out as the cards can only be used at bigger chain shops.
The vast majority of the money distributed by social welfare programs gets spent in the community the recepient lives in.
Of course in an ideal world it would be great to not have your income taxed to pay for social welfare. Of course we are taxed under the threat of violence, ie you don't pay your tax and you will get into a lot of trouble. Of course lots of this tax is wasted. Of course it can be argued that people who don't have to go to work because the state supports them, won't go to work.
There are tons of arguments against the current system. However alternative systems might be pretty frightening.
^^^ I bet that chicks parents wish that dad had blown her over the curtains with the rest of her sibling.
I know I do..
I cut and paste this cause I'm a troll
This was in the Waco Tribune Herald,Waco, TX.
Put me in charge of food stamps. I'd get rid of Lone Star cards; no cash for Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's, just money for 50-pound bags of rice and beans, blocks of cheese and all the powdered milk you can haul away. If you want steak and frozen pizza, then get a job.
Put me in charge of Medicaid. The first thing I'd do is to get women Norplant birth control implants or tubal ligations. Then, we'll test recipients for drugs, alcohol, and nicotine and document all tattoos and piercings. If you want to reproduce or use drugs, alcohol, smoke or get tats and piercings, then get a job.

In addition, you will either present a check stub from a job each week or you will report to a "government" job. It may be cleaning the roadways of trash, painting and repairing public housing, whatever we find for you.We will sell your 22 inch rims and low profile tires and your blasting stereo and speakers and put that money toward the "common good".

And while you are on Gov't subsistence, you no longer can VOTE! Yes that is correct.
For you to vote would be a conflict of interest. You will voluntarily remove yourself from voting while you are receiving a Gov't welfare check. If you want to vote, then get a job.
Yes it is cut n pasted Seppo crap, and I also get annoyed with chain emails that suddenly are "written by a 21 y/o australian girl" (seriously who makes up that crap?) BUT....
...to all the people above who disagree with it's sentiment -
Explain how somebody can get money from the Govt, and discount housing from the Govt, yet owe the Govt money at the same time? Like if you have countless unpaid fines, (many don't care if their licence is suspended .....they have no car, or just drive anyway). What about the disgusting levels of damage to public housing?
Why not take $50 a fortnight off their dole to pay for the fines or the damage to the last house? What is wrong with rent paid for, food vouchers supplied, and say $50 a week 'play money' for grog and durries - but when you smash the house up or get fines in court you lose the $50 play money until it is paid. Maybe then the next gen will not grow up having seen what mum n dad get away with. And that is what is important
Dole paid as essentials paid for plus some money for luxuries, rather than straight cash, could easily solve a lot of the problems faced in lower socio-economic areas. Yes the above is not well written but that does not mean the sentiment may not be right in some respects.
Agreed. If someone owes the govt money in fines, unpaid state housing rent, damage to their property etc it shouldn't be up to them to organise Centrepay or whatever to deduct a miserly $5 a fortnight, if they don't cough up the money they owe their 'pay' should be automatically deducted. And deducted at a meaningful rate, not a token payment that will take 60 years to square things up.
Sure, some will say crime will go up because they need the money, but hey it might go down too. It might help those stuck in the vicious circle of fines suspended licenses.
I don't have a problem with "No Work = No Vote" it works for local Government, If you don't own property you don't get a vote.
What!!! just because you shop at Coles or Woolworths or drive a Holden or Ford do you expect to get a vote in that companies financial / management decisions of course not, as your a consumer of that company, so if you are a consumer of government funds and don't put in with employment tax why should you get a say?
I know of a guy working for a labour hire company that was doing 2-3 days work a week and was offered 4-5 days a week and refused as he would lose his Gov. benefits.... He never went back to that employer again and was replaced with someone that was keen to work.
Self funded retirees get more benefits from the government through lower taxation on their superannuation contributions and exemptions from tax than the average Aged pensioner.
Self funded retirees tax exemptions is costing the federal government billions and the cost is going up and and up.
Social welfare for the middle and upper classes. Thats what its about nowdays.
I think some people are missing the point and trying to obscure things with padantics....
All I'm saying is "I'm getting sick of people sitting back and wanting handouts without getting off their backsides and working"
Moral of life.... You never get more out of life than you are prepared to put in!!!!
Every day I back out of my driveway to go to work and know across the road is an able bodied guy mid30's that is living with mum and hasn't worked for 10years +.
And some of the companies I contract to who employ people are finding it hard to get good motivated workers and one of the reasons is "it's easier to be on Gov benefits".
Believe it or not but I'm seeing it every day.
^^^ all he has to do is go to the Doc, say work makes him feel bad, get a bit angry/cry a bit and bang! - he's on disability pension. Even better than Newstart as then you don't have to even pretend to look for work.![]()
