While we're at it making sweeping statements as above...
Am i right to assume that yo drive a ute with a 'australia, love it or f*ck off, or we're full' type sticker on it? Am i also right to assume you like to keep things simple.. no room for flexibility. cultural sensitivity is for pussys type of country man. Would you have gotten yourself a southern cross tat in the last year or two if you where younger?
what is the article? Is your issue really with how he has been identified in a way that doesn't completely dismiss his cultural heritage and may give some sort of insight into where his point of view was coming from?
I haven't read the article but am interested in doing so in hope to understand your post and then continue to judge you potentially very incorrectly.. ![]()
Smedg get a life. Nothing derogatory was written in this thread.
African American means black people of african heritage who live in America.
Now how can he be African - American - Australian?
The political correctness has gone so far that they are scared to say "a man of african descent" in that article.
Just because some people can see it for what it is does not mean they have a "F&*k off we're full" sticker on their ute.
Typical behaviour of the politcal correctness brigade displayed in your post - as soon as anyone displays a commonsense opinion dare hold an opinion you scream racist.
Australia does take Political Correctness way to far, we are a 'soft' country and go out of our way just to please everybody, in my opinion this is a waste of time, no matter what the government does to make our foreign born Australians feel more at home, we will still have racial people in our society.
I know that we have a tree in Australia known to me as the BlackBoy, Its a tree that takes hundreds of years to grown just a couple metres off the ground, when you see one that’s 15 metres tall you think 'that’s a part of Australian history, its been here from the beginning' Suddenly we aren’t allowed to call them that as it would be racial to compare the dark tree to a dark aboriginal. la la la la THATS BULLCRAP, i dont even know what they are now called.
and Smedg seriously ****ing wake up, we have all these people coming into our country to BECOME australian, we have a saying 'Proud to be AUSTRALIAN' my 3 best mates weren’t born on Australian soil but were born in south africa, italy and america. Yet they prefer being called Australian than being called Italion Australian, sure when they discuss their heritage they like to brag that there born in the Football/Soccer Capital Italy (world cup winner) but in the end they are 'Proud to be Australian.'
(soz for such long comment :P)
What the Political Correctness pricks have done is used Australia and New Zealand as the proving grounds for the worst social and mind control experiment ever conceived. The Multicultural Experiment.
More "New World Order and One World Government" psychological conditioning. New Think.
All facets of the media are in on it so don't expect to get any sense from the tabloids. The journos can't even spell correctly and that is what is known as "New Speak". Read George Orwell's "1984". Maybe he really meant "2014" but at the time of his writing that year was way too far into the future for most people to concieve.
So as you allude mineral1, what the hell is an African American Australian?? Just sounds like a trouble maker to me.
Australian democracy = Country run by the minorities, I'm sure it's not supposed to be that way, I thought majority rules, but no not here. Dont bother picking my rash statement just go with it please.
I guess this is the result of following American litigious values.......
Im not racist and I am culturally aware / respectful of other cultures as I have a European wife and was involved in hospitality for a long time.
But please let us have a fair crack and make our newest Aussie citizens respect and accept our way of life.
I apologize if I have upset anyone (I should not have to) but it is the correct political and respectful thing to do.
I know what you mean Mineral.
Cheers GT
In light of all the red thumbing i've received i'd like to withdraw my previous statements and replace it here with.. OMG this thread is drawing out all kinds of ignorance..
eg.
"African American means black people of african heritage who live in America.
Now how can he be African - American - Australian?"
It may seem complex to you, (who clearly has a need to keep it simple
) but some people chose the not always easy road of accepting who they are and where they are from and adding to their lives by becoming Australian as well. Simply moving countries and gaining citizenship doesn't have to mean forgetting who you are, where you come from or your ancestry.
As to that comment by minoxgt about not being racist because you married and have worked with people from other cultures.. It doesn't really work that way. I do like how you've cleverly protected your broad sweeping and ignorant comments by telling us to just go with it...
Respect minoxgt is not something that can be demanded. It must be earned. Its basis lies in developing an understanding of and then eventually learning to value the qualities in others.
At Scully. Just because you are set in your ways doesn't mean others are wrong to be offended by the term. (it has been a common term to refer to slaves in the past, so can understandably offend)
At all. political correctness may go too far sometimes. But it is often an attempt at cultural sensitivity. Just because we aren't offended by a comment or don't think its racist, doesn't mean other audiences agree. It is the comments interpretation by others that is of importance. So sensitivity/ understanding can go a long way to making australia a nicer place.
Thumbs away.
ps what was the article about?? hahaha.
why is this multicultural/mass immigration being pushed so hard by establishment.
heard eric jon phelps a famous researcher of real history, say it is done to diversify the population. a nation of people from different backgrounds/language etc are less likely he says to unite against a possible tyranny of gov, such as happened in rumania when people united to take over gov.
fair to say this mass immigration is clearly not wanted by majority, so why is it still being pushed.
I think you have answered your own question petermac,
"heard eric jon phelps a famous researcher of real history, say it is done to diversify the population. a nation of people from different backgrounds/language etc are less likely he says to unite against a possible tyranny of gov, such as happened in rumania when people united to take over gov."
Or in fewer words "Divide and Rule".
In my opinion the majority of immigrants that come to Australia do so primarily for economic reasons, not because they intend becoming part of the great Australian tradition of comradeship and tolerance.
i think the "african american australian" was in context to the article, as it was about some black puppets hanging (my bad) up in a franchise gift shop ....and how the puppets where used in history as a derogatory symbol of the black american slave..... well something along those lines.. i am guessing african american australian was used to highlight the ethnicity of the person that was offended by these puppets for sale.
I never suggested political incorrectness and or ignorance couldn't be funny. Especially when done so cleverly as in summer heights high. I love love it. haha. Ps sorry for causing so much trouble I'll stop expressing my views now as i was obviously wrong judging by the thumbs. so from now on I'll be totally nice to all you racists.. ![]()
There's gunna be a lynchin pa. [}:)]
Dunno why the paper needed to mention his racial background that specifically at all and didn't refer to him as "An individual who complained..."
Can't rememer the last time I read of a honky being specifically described as "A caucasion man said.."Oh but then that paper does love to stir the pot and get as any people as possible worked up (whatever their veiw and/or bias).
Ever noticed no-one really gets mad with the paper but directs their bitterness towards PC/society/Kn tree hugging do-gooders etc etc.
Suckers. Been had again. ![]()
The paper worded it not the tree huggers etc. Vent at them you misguided yokels. ![]()

Perhaps "An Australian man, of African American descent.." might have allowed everyone to keep the blood pressure under wraps and get a good nights sleep.
BTW - The West is a total trash paper. I read it - I just don't believe it that's all.
Anyway - I be rollin wid ma homeys and we jes might pop a cap in yo honkey @ss iv you show up on our turf. Yeh Boooyyyy!!
What if the african american australian offended man is so offended he moves to say New zealand? "African American Australian New Zealander settles in Auckland". I am all for being proud of your heritage but a some point youv got to drop something off and make a commitment to the place you have chosen to live.
didnt they change the name of fairy penguins to little penguins out of political correctness? i thought that one was a bit over the top.
Is all the above crap from the same "famous researcher of real history" who supports the crazy conspiracy theory you allude to below??
