A simple thread for pics of Tony "Salacious Crumb" Abbott and Christopher "The Poodle" Pyne running for the hills. Salacious, pictured below, has no dignity left after today's episode. He's been attacking the government unceasingly for accepting Thomson's vote, and when Thomson surprised him by crossing the floor to vote with the Libs today, he felt the only option was heading for the hills before the doors were locked.
Here's a few for your amusement:
It was a Thompson stunt to 'force' the Libs into accepting his vote.
I'm not sure who it backfired on, but Abbotts reaction is pretty hilarious - surely the 'dignified' approach is to just accept that in this instance you are voting with him - it's not like Thompsons vote changes the matter that you're voting on. Politics over policy. Again.
Ton y obviously overdoes the lycra thingy .You will notice that he was a bit slow off the mark and obviously still a bit stiff and saddle sore from the morning ride in the cold Canbrrrrr air
They didn't effictively nullify anything, once the speaker says 'lock the doors' then they are counted as being present regardless of whether they manage to dive out before the doors are physically locked.
Yes, the sight of them behaving like schoolkids in parliament floats my boat.
This is doing the rounds toohttp://youtubedoubler.com/4e82
The Libs senator Mary Jo Hokey-Pokey Fisher has been recently convicted of assault and theft and yet they accept her "tainted" vote quite happily, which demonstrates the hypocrisy of the whole stunt.
OK, red thumb away. . .
Embarrassed to say this is "our" federal parliament in action
Obnoxious childish antics on display for the world to see ![]()

The whole thing is a distraction. It is not meant to work. It is there to keep people divided. It is there to keep the establishment in place and there to keep the rest in our place, grinding away. It is quite farked and the sooner they bring out the guillotine the better.
I believe there would have been deeper implications in the voting system if Thompson had successfully "crossed the floor" and the Libs had thereby won the vote to have the gag order lifted. (Which was prevented by Pyne managing to escape before the doors were closed).
If the Libs had won the vote based on Thompson crossing the floor then they would be obliged in the future to grant Thompson a "pair" when (/if?) he has to leave parliament and misses a vote. If Thompson is granted a "pair" then the Libs won't gain anything when Thompson is away from Parliament and misses a vote because someone on the Lib side would miss their vote too and thus cancel out the effect of the Labs having one less vote.
Make sense? Parliamentary system...archaic, confusing, childish...Yes, but a sh!t load better than any other system that's been devised.
Let the games continue...
(One positive from all these antics is...It shows just how stable and mature our system of government is if these are considered to be the important events of our day...No worries about military coups, assassinations, etc. A pretty comfortable life here in Australia).
what a flippin idiot acting like a 5 year old, cant believe that this is the man that wants to lead our country

Should be a rule if you don't understand it don't comment on it..
Second rule if someone explains it and you still don't understand it you definitely shouldn't comment
The whole episode is laughable especially if you get a chance to hear Dwayne Russell's race call of the event on 774 radio (Melb) raffeale epstein show drive show, not sure how to do a link ,but its very clever ,take a listen

....If we bring in that rule then my productivity at work will increase one hundred-fold 'cos there'll be nothing to read here! ![]()
As a point of interest - he is STILL a sitting member of parliament, he is still THE ONLY representative for his electorate - is Tony suggesting that these people should not be represented (if his vote is so tainted) - doesn't sound very consistent with our democratic process to me.
And does anyone think he wouldn't accept Thompsons vote if he crossed the floor on something significant - say (yet another) motion of no confidence. Principles only count so far.
I wonder ///if Abbot had done a hammy running for the door .Would he have been able to claim it on workers comp???
OK I finally watched the vid. Bloody funny. Oh please can't we have an election to end this suffering ![]()
