I have no idea how people have such high power bills, a friend at Redcliffe is always around 400-600 a qtr. Mind you the 4 Tv's are running alot.

Been in Nth Brisbane for 6 years now and my power bill has gone from $160 a qtr to $175 a qtr, yet I have welders/grinders, rc batt chargers going non stop (around 9hrs @5amps a day) big tv, 6 loads of washing a week. I'm stoked.
Every time some door to door guy comes up and says I can beat your current price, I show him the bill and say beat that. They are just amazed and have nothing to offer.

I've a colleague in Canberra who just paid

...wait for it...

...wait for iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit...

$2,500 for the last quarter.

He's growing plants in his ceiling!

It is and always have been about keeping the rich on one level and the poor...poor..and if they can poorer ...I suppose that will and has worked till people will just break!

Mobydisc's bill jumped about 4 packets of cigarettes/quarter!

How much is a packet of cigarettes nowdays? Its been about 10 years since I bought a pack of ****.

Even if I wanted to smoke nowdays I don't think I could afford it.

My wife is an energy retard. Wants to let fresh air into the house in the morning... 8 degrees outside, doors open, heater on. Farking moron!

She reasonably visually impaired too, and likes the house light up like an effing Christmas Tree! (minus 5 prescription, I think)

I could get by on about 1/4 of what she consumes/wastes! Same for food. The over purchasing is out of control!

Dad's girlfriend is worse again! Dad said she dropped about $9k for her daughters Deb Ball or similar. Expensive dress, shoes, underwear, jewelery, car hire, boyfriends suit, shoes, dress for mum, shoes for mum... Oh, plus professional make-up, spray tan...

Smart meters will push the price up too... Watch them reduce the off peak times too.

I did the calculations the other day, and I pay about the peak rate on average. The off peak savings are completely offset with the service charge.

It's worse, in that its intended to let them privatize things, by making the charges more attractive, not the actual privatization itself...

They are trying to make it look like such a good deal that someone buys it.

I wonder who really is going to pay for this great deal?

There was some article in the paper talking about how due to reduced demand there is no longer a need for new power stations for quite a while, which looks bad to any business that wants to buy the existing ones.
