1) When you walk into a shop you expect to see the price of the good they are selling? correct...
Why do i walk into so many shops that have no price on things. I don't want talk to the dip**** ripoff sales man.I dont want it fitted or a measure and quote or you come out to my house I dont want to give you a ****en lecture on what im building or what i intend to do with the product.
As a consumer I want a rough ball park figure on what the cost is of what you are selling in black and white on a sticker or a tag.
If you have a internet website.
I use the internet because your shop isn't open.
1)ffs Contact us for a quote is not a price.
When i type in a product or a particular material / pavers /tiles /metal ... list goes on..... I don't want to see your Pretty Pictures and ring for a quote. or "ring us for a deal.. ffs
I don't want you to build it, lay it, weld it, make love to, or eat it for me. I can do that myself.
Is it me or as a consumer do you feel ripped of betrayed if you go into a shop or visit a website that fails to list the basic price next to the picture/display of what it is they are selling?
I think they do that on websites so that you will contact them and in some cases you will need to contact them for labour or square meter rates ect. In a walk in style shop front they should put the prices on their products imo.

Apparently goats breed really, really well at Gnaraloo. I'm applying to the gov. to set up a goat farm there. Should do really well 'cause goats are tasty - underrated here in Aus. but highly sought after overseas. Could be a boom export business for me. The icing on the cake is that it means lots of free bbq goat! Yum.

Myself and the misses went to a reputable furniture shop.
This particular shop was willing to give me 20 months interest free contract but wouldn't allow me to layby it for 8 weeks. Me being a money Nazi would rather save for the 8 weeks and pay cash so we decided just to save.
Upon going back to the store in 8 weeks time i asked the sales rep if i could have a 200 dollar discount for cash..
He politely said "we now use eftpos" its easier for transactions so we don't give discount for cash anymore."
So me and the misses politely waked out of the shop with an envelope containing 3 and a half grand ![]()
you know what? the best curry ive ever had, and still make is with goat.

How about everyone just advertises the lowest price they are willing to sell something for. None of this lets haggle out a deal, less for cash crap or the one that really grinds my gears JOIN OUR STORE VIP/MEMBERSHIP club and save 10% everytime you come. Its not really a VIP thing if you offer it to every person that walks through the door. Heres an idea stop wasting your profits on printing out membership cards and just charge 10% less on your prducts and while your at it why dont you give your staff some god damned traing in the products that they are selling. If i ask a question I want them to have an idea not just read the packaging cause Ive already read the packaging and it hasnt helped me you window licker! Deep breath. Deep breath.
Agreed if its for sale it should have a price on it but advertising your absolute lowest rock bottom price limits your ability to make money off the stupid, impatient and ignorant people who don't take the time to shop around or negotiate a better price. Shop keepers shouldn't be denied the opportunity to make a little extra from these people

To OP, I was thinking the exact same thing, looking at Waeco's site for their non litertature about their products, and also miffed at so many frikkers without prices, honestly they think theyre gods or something.

Sorry to say but putting prices on the net or in store in that way does not sounds like good business at all. You'd end up with no sales.
If you are in a business where the prices are negotiable depending upon volume, number of items etc and you put a price on it you are basically not pricing it correctly. Obviously the price on the item is not the 'best' price you can do as it depends upon what other items you want to get. People will shop you to death and publishing prices in that case will get you nothing.
Perhaps a better way to go is to quote full price with a highlighted disclaimer firmly leaving the door open to get a better deal for volume etc.

Im just say that shops are loosing business because they can put a price on there goods and it is also very frustrating because alot of the time when i am browzing for goods on the internet it is after hours.
best to rub out the lying money 30 percent grabbing middle man.
For "off the shelf" items if there isn't a price on a website I will never bother to ask them. Plenty of sites have prices, even if it is as a "starting point" for pricing negotiations.
There was a reason they passed a law way back requiring all car yards to have prices on their cars, the same principle applies to the internet.
In fact the more I think about that, the more true it is!

I will provide evidence of sales pitches which use the "don't supply a price contact us" approach.
What we have to understand is that an item which is a "commodity" should be priced accordingly in black and white to the consumer.
Truth is i dont mind paying a little extra but to get blatantly ripped off is an absolute pis stake.
Heres the scenario, what I did over the last 3 days looking for a 600 watt inverter and 15 AMP deep cycle battery charger with all the bells and whistles, check the net, found the cheapest price, found another site a bit more reputable with a slightly bigger margin but I knew the delivery would be OPT (Oriental People Time ie Phast as Phuck) went to bunnings got the same product for 15 bux more than the reputable dudes. I cant afford to wait now so needed it and made the purchase. they had no 15 amp chargers in stock, so on the way home checked in at Jaycar Electronics, picked up a 15 amp battery charger for $150, thats $35 more than the net price of a similar item but had it in my filthy paws.
I understand that time is an issue but why pay more Jacar is a good site i have no problem with it.

Tips for good business?
Keep up the (mostly) good service you provided before the sale by providing good after sales service.
Don't blatantly ignore your customers after the sale, even if they only spent a measly 800 odd bucks with you.
Best way to forgo any future sales is by ignoring the people who have spent money with you and would have come back. ![]()
Yep, not giving any support to a customer afer a sale doesn't lend any credence to the call to support local business when they cry foul at buying from overseas.
Why would one of the bretheren, a kite retailer, ask us to support local when they're not willing to support local?
Lucky I know they're not all the same, there are good ones around, it just **s me to find out who the bad ones are after I've spent money with them.
