Stug's are lethal in the right situation - like any open map with forest. Pretty much anything will one shot it, so caught in the open or overun = dead, but good penetration, super accuracy and a 3sec reload makes it lethal from cover and at range. Really only comes into its own when you have all crew with camo skill, paint and a net. Lots of fun tanks tier 5-6.

Higher tiers are certainly heavy slugfests, and I think are more geared to Clan Wars with Field Commanders calling the shots during the game than public games. If you think the heavies have a slow reload, the T92 SPG has a 1.3 shot per minute fire rate....but oh that gun[}:)] and a 20m splash radius!!! One good hit in a crowd is a game changer.

I prefer higher tiers. Mostly play tiers 7-8. Love my IS-3 - it is so much fun to play. Probably the best tier 8 heavy in the game. Tier 8 meds are also fun, especially if you happen to have a couple of decent med players on your team. My t-44 teamed up with a couple of type59s makes for a nice wolf pack.

Yeah, I have Tier 7 Arty and so play up to tier 8/9/10 games a lot. They are a lot more focused - fewer noob's .

I have an IS only about 10k short on experience to get the IS3. Sounds like I will have to grind tonight to push it over.....the IS doesn't excite me overly much, so I haven't pushed it hard on progression.

I haven't progressed mediums much, although I always admire the Batchat 25t. Been killed more times by that f#@er than anything else.

Free Cell, Solitare and Spider Solitare have no chance when I play.

When I got to $5,000,000 and about 30 cars on Need For Speed Porche 2000 three times on three different computers, I have sort of laid back on it a bit.

Sam What's His Face on Splinter Cell was OK for a while but nowhere as good as when AE Games had the server running for online racing with Need For Speed Porche 2000.

We had a few hundred world wide regular racers and I did more than a few 6 to 8 hour sessions. This was on a Celeron 600, 128 mb RAM and 32 mb NVidea video card and would you believe it a "Dial Up" connection.

Fun at the time but really a waste of it. Time that is. But hey, time is the only real currency and me and thee will spend it how we likes.

You know I got the IS3 and was bitterly disappointed - until I ground enough xp to get the tier 9 gun....oh boy, now I see what you mean!!

Started playing World of Tanks after reading this thread and really enjoying it. I have not spent a cent on it but wasted many hours. I like the fact you get a game almost straight away and also the historical aspect of it. They should have different crew national accents for each nationalilty tank though.

I've gone down the German tank destroyer route and am up to the tier six JagdPz IV. Its a bit of a bit of a disappointment after the STuGIII. The STuG seems faster and is better matched against its contemporaries. Often in random battles I face tier 7 or 8 tanks and the JagdPz IV gun rarely does any damage. So I hit them three or four times for little effect and then they kill me with one shot. So grinding away to get the Jagdpanther. From the look of it, its 88mm gun will be much better than either the 75mm or 88mm available on JagdPz IV.

Russian tanks are very popular and are dangerous opponents.

+1 for World of Tanks
Great to see so many other people enjoying it too.

I have played nearly 4000 games now and have earned a top Tier IS-7

Anyone joined a World of Tanks clan? I did on the weekend. Its pretty new and small. I think its NTT. Whatever that stands for I don't know but the boss is Australian. He said gold can be earned through clan fights. As I've joined fairly early I'll earn more gold too. That will be good but I need at least a tier 8 vehicle to be of any use in clan fights.

I currently have 300 gold that was given to me when I changed my password. I have not spent any of it yet. Not sure what to spend it on as everything I've seen sofar can be bought through credit or experience except those purchased tanks like the DMAX. However they die like the rest.

Every tree branch has good and bad tanks. Unfortunate that you have to grind through the bad ones to get to good ones (unless you have accumulated loads of free experience). I hated T1 heavy and M6 but T29 was good fun. In general I think tanks get better in tier 7 and 8.

As far as gold is concerned, spend it on premium account. 50% more credits and experience. But if you only going to get a 1 or 3 days then get it at a time when you have nothing planned and just grind. Keep in mind that it's almost impossible to play purely tier 8 and higher and make money. The repair costs are a killer. You either need premium, bunch of good money makers in lower tiers or a gold tank.

I got a gold bundle from my brother for my bday a while back and I bought a T34. Gold tanks make way more money that standard and are cheaper to repair. Handy to have one when you need to make credits quick.

Also, check news on WOT site regularly. Every time a bigger event is on there is a code for 1 day free premium. Redeem the code when you have some spare time to play. And play weekends if you can, weekend events always have some added benefits - more exp, more credits etc. Check the site for details.

I've been thinking about joining a clan - what one is it? might as well go for one I know has Aussies in it.....I have the IS3 and an M43 fully kitted now. both have 3 skills/perks each crew too...

I would try the British TD line. Very different game play but can really make a difference if played right. They are slow, but are almost impossible to penetrate from the front - just don't get flanked..... I have the AT2 atm and is fun. Have won games where it is just me defending the base and 6 others left.....all they had to do was flank me, but noooo they come straight at me.....lol. lots of steel wall and cool headed medals....

@Sagerhead - I have 3400 battles, but have spread myself across a lot of trees too.
