over the years I have had the chance to have one or two along the way, nothing to fancy but good fun all the same and mostly in immaculate condition [and before the advent of Kids and the financial impact of such], they sort of take you back in a time warp,
the cars were an old beetle, VC Valiant, 62 Borgward Isabella. and an old Merc, all sold now, love to get a Karmen Ghia or similiar, I'm dream'n but maybe one day

I'd like to see a new Karmen Ghia ...... they did a new Beetle, so why not?

Similar shape - well, make it a modern shape but with just enough old Karmen to have some retro-ness, use a detuned Porsche motor.

hell yeah.

But the new beetle was a lemon If they did do a Karmen I would hope they do it alot better job than the beetle

not totally collectable yet, but I've still got my 71 capri.

First car I bought as a P Plater.
Baby blue and fluffy seat covers, gotta love it.

No, just the 1600 (about 83 hp of tyre frying grunt ).
Couldnt get a v6 insured at the time a P plater.
I bought a V6 one 20 years later ($300), stripped what I needed, and sold it again ($300).
idiot.

The Car is 41, same age as me, owned it for 22 years, about 7 batteries,3 sets of mags, 2 exhausts, 1 paint job.....

Had one for a year or so when I was 18 (looong time ago). Boy it was a fun little car.

Now I have rusty van to cart the boards around in.....and a 1942 Indian Scout (RUNNER) and '44 Chief waiting for the total rebuild. If only there was more spare cash to finish the Chief and buy some more water toys...

The year 1969 was a great year for collectables. A few examples.

A 69 Bone.

A 69 Trixie.

A 69 Eaty.

A 69 Stanger.

A 69 S and S er.

I have the one at the bottom and am working my way up the list.

In my dreams I have a HT Monaro in gun barrel grey.

In reality I owned an immaculate HT Kingswood sedan that made people stop and look. Kitted with the latest Pioneer Tape Player and 6 speaker stereo it was the ultimate car for a young bloke.

Then I met a foreign girl, done my nuts and sold it to pay for plane tickets. The relationship lasted 6 weeks in her country!

Wish I had the Kingswood and now at over $150K the Monaro is getting further out of reach.

I always wanted a Capri...but ended up with this

Reliant Scimitar GTe. Very similar and this ones running the 3.1L Ford Capri x-pack engine. Soon as I get round to re-wiring the dash it'll be pressed into service towing the land yacht.

Cheers Col

I scored a Citroen AX GT from my old work for $500 bucks, best car ever, sold it a few weeks later for some fast cash to a Citroen die hard.. Used the cash on a Summer in WA.. Worst way to make money ever, would buy it back tomorrow..

Was like a Go Kart..

Love it!

In my younger days, I had a bright yellow moke with Recaro buckets, wide wheels and flared guards (no kidding). It was great! Above about 30kph you couldn't see out of any of the rear mirrors because of the vibration and the thing didn't go much above 80 anyway. But we had a lot of fun getting there.

doggie, you've got to keep the RS.
even more desireable than the capri.

GPA: i'll pull the finger out and post photo's on the weekend.

Col:you're in the right country for this gear.
I need a chrome boot lid trim and down under they cost both arms and a leg.

Flying Ant: I'm looking forward to hiring a moke at Magnetic Island soon.
I tried to describe to the kids what a moke is but got nowhere.
They love having to 'wind the window down' in the Capri,as opposed to pushing a button.

You better check about the Mokes on Magnetic Island,we heard that they sold them all off at a auction earlier this year,as the maintenance was costing them a fortune(as they were usually thrashed on the Island)
