NASA alone employed tens of thousands of people. You think they were all in on it? Why wouldn't they go? They (with the help of many companies in private industry) obviously engineered the capability and had developed the technology. Humans aren't that good at keeping secrets. Would be easier to just send some dudes to the moon than pull of that big a scam.

Seppo 2: A cosmonaut is someone who has done a spacewalk. An astronaut has never gone outside. I know because I was in the airforce!

Kubrick was not responsible for the footage. It is patently obvious that if he did fake the moon landing for NASA / Govt etc, he would have been murdered by the CIA shortly thereafter, disguised as an accident. 
Speaking of conspiracies theories and the like, does anyone know the current standing of Gavin Menzie's thesis aired in his book "1421 The Year China Discovered The World"? I've heard that it has been poo pooed by academics.
