Ben hasn't ben editor for a while now, Daniel' Beaver' Bevan is the current editor for KBM and Beaver has had alot to do with KBM over the years.
Rider owned brand sounds like nothing but good news to me. Excited to see the new gear. Any word on retailers?
I'm hoping Kitepower will be retailing the range, but its all a bit "unknown" at the moment, heres a press release that Ben sent me earlier today though.
"allows me to give something back to kiting"
is starting to sound like the labour parties "moving forward" bull
good luck though
I also had the opportunity to check out the BWS range of kites and boards whilst in Indo.
They seem like a good product that are sure to cause some "noise".
I recently snapped my old favourite kite/surfboard and so took over a new (to me) 6'4" board that I had only used a couple of times in well powered conditions or on downwinders.
Due to the reasonably light winds (for us WA guys) we experienced over there and the fairly heavy current running the same way as the wind, I found I was having trouble getting back upwind enough to get to the peak.
One day I had a go on one of Bens boards (only 5'9" but wider in the nose & tail and with much less rocker overall but particularly in the tail),
I found I was getting upwind much better and it was smoother through the chop.
I liked it that much he never got it back. ![]()
Those tee shirts are the go, hope he brings them out, personally ive always been a rashy n boardies bloke, hey ben, do they ride up over your head when you get flogged? (by a wave) or do you need to tuck them in to your boardies?
Ben we are kiters.
We have Kites and Surfboards and some of us have SUPs and Razor scooters.
But we dont have patience.
Cant wait, want now.
He's speaking the right language at least.
Simplicity. Quality. Value.
Good luck to him
(can't believe I clicked on that bws.com.au link thinking it was short for Ben Wilson Surf!)
It will be interesting to see what he comes up with after riding SS for so long, which aren't really regarded as one of the best surf kites. They are a good kite and work well in surf, especially the RPM, but after reading a lot of posts on surf kites one of the main things that seems to come up is a 3 strut design seems to work well, looks like Bens kite is a 5 strut and very rev/octane shaped. Will be interesting to see what the hardcore WA kite surfers think of it once they have given it a ride. Looks like Ben can make it work, but that guy has some serious skills and style and could probably make anything work.
The boards look good, and if they are like the previous boards that Ben designed with SS than they will be a winner, if the price is right.
Good Luck Ben, hop it all goes well and you can get all your gear out towards the start of season, and destroy the competition.![]()
