they're 499 EURO, looks like a steal. might put a cheeky last second bid on, dont really care if i dont get it!
Are the switchblades non-existent or fake or what? Looks like he already has a heap of bids coming through - possibly dummy bids though since many of the people have no track record.

I wouldnt go as far as calling him a scammer just off the info you ve got there mate. I ve bought stuff off Asia several times on ebay.
There are a lot of fakes producsts coming out of China these days, ipods, iphones and even frikking TRUFFLES! truffles sell more than 2K aud per kilo. The point being he could sell fakes which is different than just grabbing money off someone.
mind you, its not THAT much different of course..

This person is a scammer and I know a few of the newbie's in the kiting world have been done over from this person before. This person always comes onto e-bay with a new user name for each auction.
You can see that he has paypal listed for payment but once auction has finished he will send a request for bank wire stating that paypal is not accepted in his country.....

Might be a cheap copy but half the crud in my house along with many people is some import/copy/same stuff diff label. I think SOME things a great this way. Keeps prices down.

Dudes... if you want cheap(er) kites... go buy them from overseas if you get the chance, buy from a dealer, you'll still receive intl. warranty for half the price of what you pay over here...
Ebay is just TOO dodgy.
Where did you get those prices?
For example. This was when a new rev2 cost $2100 for a 9m and $2350 for a 13m.
Now you could pick these kites up new in South Africa for R16000 for both (so lets say R8000 each) with all the std. bars, lines, pumps, intl. warranty etc.
Together that makes R16000. At a (very) pessimistic exchange rate you get R6 to the dollar. Then you can discount 14% VAT (their version of GST). You're getting 2 kites for the price of one in $AUD terms.
Sure you can buy local and I do often (but only on sales), but compared to the intl. scene the local shops are not competitive at all, then again this would only be viable if you actually traveled there and don't get charged import duty as shipping stuff like this is just asking to have duty imposed, even so it may still be worth it.
From memory the RPM sold for about R9000 - R10000 over there.
Well looks like our china man has been removed by ebay itself hopefully no one who bid on any of his fake auctions transferred money to his account.
China man did manage to send me a message requesting the money even know ebay cancelled the auction….

Thing is I actually bought 2 rev2s while over there...
I didn't have to pay postage as I got them over here on my flight.
Ended up costing me $2300 for 2 kites incl 14% VAT refund from SAF - which actually turns out to be more like 10% after the accountants take their commission. I know rev2 prices are now down due to the octane coming in, but even so that is close to half the price these kites were selling at over here - based on KP prices (total would have been over $4000.)
I wouldn't be suprised if you went into a store there and got a much nicer price than what is advertised on the website, I did not see any kites in the slingshot store for much more than R10,000. But ofcourse 'free' transporting, negotiating (important!) and receiving a VAT refund all require you to have actually stayed in the country so that somewhat decreases the viability.

Yep I bid on one of those kites and won to. More out of curiosity, so was'nt surprised to that he delisted form ebay the same day. Beside who would put 5 kites on ebay 2 days apart at intervals of 20 seconds and a delivery fee of $35? I got exactly the same reply with the payment details, had to laugh when i saw his bank details. I told mr Xue that I will pay for his kite when it arrives here!

The question is has as he originally offered Paypal as an option and now renegged on that you are not contractually obliged to continue the purchase of the product.
You will have no recourse if you do not receive the product and you have paid direct to his bank in China.
I would strongly suggest that you do not part with your money, you have no fear of broken contract, which this individual has already as he is asking for payment other than what he said on the item.

Do not send money to this guy's bank account under any circumstances unless you have the kite in your hands.
Contact PayPal and ask them why this guy can not use their service. Also, ask Paypal about security for future transactions.
If you want to throw away your money choose a reputable charity like Red Cross or the Salvos, at least you'll get a receipt.
I've had huge trouble with ebay in the past just trying to sell something! Save yourself all the worry and head down to your local kite shop. Support local business.
Tell him you'll be in China next week and you will come and pick up both of them straight from him!! See what reaction that gets.

thanks for the reactions ! in the mean time i have asked him about PayPal and guess what ? Bingo of course a story about paypal not being accepted in CHINA. I have told him that i would pay when i have the kites in my hand + i opened a case at ebay on this guy... lets see what their reactions (ebay and the scammer) are going to be , for sure to be continued.

All of these guys selling kites from China and Indonesia are scammers. Don't even THINK about sending money to ANY them. You WILL get scammed. And if you didn't already get approached by the idiots on Alibaba.com you probably will eventually. ALL of them are also scammers. (Remember the story? Alibaba and the 40 thieves...)
Why so much effort and so much risk on the line just to save a few dollars? Support your local kite shops and buy stuff here where you will get genuine products, no scammers to deal with and good after sale service. (and if you do get scammed, at least you know where to find them! :-) )
It's not like the kite shops here are putting massive markups on products like the bookstores or clothing shops do here. We have a good industry here in Oz with good people running good shops. BUY LOCAL!
