I had a really bad cold for over a week but i was feeling a little bit better and the wind was good and my mates called me a pussie so i went and it was awesome but mostly awesome for the first quarter when i had a little energy. After finally getting I felt ****ter than before I left. Real worn out and sick again.
I learned that sometimes even if you want to be tough, you really just need to rest a little bit longer.
Thought I'd share my experience as i know it makes entertaining reading and there is definitely a lesson in there about resting when you got the sniffles. If you guys want any more details before publishing, just pm me. I'm at home with the sniffles, on seabreeze too often and a little bored :)

Melbourne, In the Bay
Yeah. One day I went for a kite, and I fell off and landed in the water and got wet.
The bad thing about it, was it was winter. So the water was cold.
For more details just pm me, I could go on for hours about it. Its a real interesting, involving and funny story.

25knts nw with ne gust's (off shore)
went out on my old 10m that i hadnt used in a couple months a little bit overpower all was fine for 10min or so then on my inbound run realised it was swinging off shore and was startin to get realy gusty so i headed in and as i got close to the beach i got hit by a massive gust and lunched a couple of meters into the air and then when i hit the ground i pulled my saftey and my kite sheted out then the 5th line snapped and my kite went sailing down the beach with the bar dragging along the ground mean while my mate who was out windsurfing saw this and ran down the beach after it. while my kite was sailing down the beach the bar was draggin allong the ground and hit a bystander in the head and knocked him out cold i stopped to see if he was alright. he had a burn mark along i his neck from the lines and then and big bump on his head. luckly he and his mates were all cool with it and my kite had been caught by the boat shed and there was nothin wrong with it.
So i learnt that you always need to check you satey system and be sure that you have some idea of what the wind is doing.
hELL rIDE, should be a bit to learn from this tool.

Conditions on the day : Windy
What happened : Got stupidly drunk the night before, ended up with an enormous hangover on a windy day. I ended up missing a decent session.
What did you learn : I'm not 18 anymore.
@ toppleover seabreeze is where its at. no need for that kiteforum crap.
I saw this tread mentioned on Seabreeze the other day though. It seemed worthy of a thorough read.

In NSW it blew over 10 knots all in one day. No one really knew why it got so windy. It looked a little dangerous, so no one went out. A guy was on a sup and he nearly fell off.
It didnt get that windy again this season.
Maybe ask the guys in WA.
I talked to a poley on the beach the other day. At first it was akward, but he seemed like a good bloke. I pointed out the hidden dangers.....surfers, families on the beach. We laughed.
Next day I felt a bit dirty and cheap.

One day I was going for a kite, and i was rushing to get to the water so much that i got a speeding fine ticket along the way.
I learned that it's very important to look out for the suspiciously parked cars next to the road even when traveling along well familiar route. I could have used that money to pay for half of my new harness. Be cautious of speeding cameras even if the wind seems perfect and you haven't had a kite for couple of days... It was an important learning for me.

hervey bay (when and if the winds blow)
Wind different than i had before . Blowin off shore 15-18 and the big blue was flat as . Could not resist had too go out had a blast for about an hour then as i was getting out there again the wind just stoped kite fell too water and i was 300meters out pack up gear and started too swim with kit and gear too the closest shore which was rocks with those very nasty barneys all over them . As i got closer too shore the wind picked up as i did not deflate tryed too get kite up didnt take long too figure out all lines were talgeled . Now rock shelf is real close kite half powered and lines like a kid gone fishing for first time ( bunch of grapes ,hamaroids ) could not lanch so i got it all back and got to shore cut my feet to pieces walk back to beach . Mean time wife calls ses and police didnt know weather i was all right or not . got too road and cop pulls up and said are you the kite surfing bloke in trouble i said yes (reluctly) MAN I HATE THEM GUYS . i asked for a lift then i could not belive it they said NO .the first chance i wanted too get into a cop car by myself and they said NO . Beacuse i had too much s..t on me, wet and my feet were bleeding too much . i said you are a public servant and i am apublic person . they said they would ring wife and drove off .
Morel . check winds before going out . if you do pack down rap lines up properly .
Dont trust the cops .

@Super lizard.
Also don't forget to pay for parking. I had a horror weekend a few weeks back and got done two days in a row. Still i'm sure I would of had to pay over a hndred dollars for parking over summer, If i'd paid, so i reckon it evens out.
Keep posting your stories here people. Stick it to the man.
There's just too much humanity, wisdom and profound learning in these stories for them not to be shared. I've laughed, I've cried, I've thought "Oh my god, that happened to you too?! I'm not alone after all."
Perhaps that's my story, that through bad experiences such as getting wet and cold, bumping my finger, or cutting my feet, and then reading of others' similar experiences, I've been able to get a sense of community, a sense of belonging with my fellow humans.
KBM, perhaps you could publish all these stories in a hardback illustrated coffee table book? A gift to future generations that they too may learn from our experiences and also feel a sense of continuity as they too grow and learn.
You stuck a flute in your pussy. After all that trolling I thought you were a bloke.
Clearly I got it wrong.
