I hate to be the harbringer of doom but at this point last year my body was already warn out from daily 20kt plus seabreezes.

It is now mid November and I have had just one decent 7m session at Scarbs so far, and couple of piss weak sessions.

The BOM say that we are in developing 'El Nino' pattern. Have you noticed that there are low pressure troughs hanging off the West Coast almost constantly?
I went to Gnaraloo and the trough was so deep it rained!

What to do? Move to Queensland? I have heard El Nino brings dry weather and wind to the East coast.

Any amateur meteorologists out there got a better outlook.

definitely "EL NINO" negative SOI - check out the latest index

www.bom.gov.au/climate/current/soi2.shtml

in these years we have a weak Leeuwin Current (N to S current) and associated cooler water off metro and trough like weather we are experiencing...damn it

for the fishos, poor rock lobster settlement in the south zones

what we need is "LA NINA"

should get the good ol doctor - probably not as regular this season ???

Well you guys on the west coast must be the reason our season on the east coast is off to such a crap start. You guys fouling up our wind before it reaches us!

The title of the thread should be
"Is the Perf seabreeze season rooted?"

In Geraldton we have only missed 2 or 3 days kiting... in the last 2 weeks or something like that. Bent would have had a hack at it every day

I have no complaints. Kited alot through winter. I know last season it had just about kicked in by now, but that`s an exception to the norm. We`re still getting a a day here and there. Monday was quite good. Besides, those winter storms did abit of damage to my shoulder so I could do with easing up a bit until the doctor arrives for summer.

Niall, Ive had 3 excellent sessions on new NEW 6m Rebel and a good 10-12 sessions on my NEW 9m Rebel, I was starting to get burnt out until this current trough. Maybe mate you have been slipping out of work and back home to watch the 5pm nightly news in your slippers, and not sneeking down to Scabs for a session.

I recommend no one gets a NEW 12m Rebel otherwise my last 10 x 10 to 15knot sessions may not have been so lonely. Few kiters hit it now on Low wind dayzzzzzzzzzzzz in Perth, what a dream come true .....

And Merry Chrissy to all the Perth kiters, have a GREAT one.

Johnno

P.S. Obviosusly I'm on a buzz with new equipment, the first in 2 seasons. Also got a new surfboard 6-6 x 19 3/4 x 2 5/8 Alternator Firewire.... for light winds - superrrrrrrrrrrrr fun.

Yeh - have been wondering the same as to the lack of decent/steady breezes.

Then again I was thinking last season was the same (although more at late October than mid Nov) then it cranked for months.

Hold tight, cross ya fingers, toes, hooters or ballbags (both in Rellies case) and it should be on.

Not that disturbed as I was out 1st with a crook knee and last week with piggy flu. Feel sorry the poor able bodied sods out there though. Frustrating.

I'm fairly certain last year was about the same. hit and miss during November, and then in the first few days of December it just switched on at maximum power until Feb.

I'm not worrying until Christmas

Hey Lach I am in Merimbula.

To start with alot of our nor easters were poxing out and going nor west or getting troughed out. So they have been hot, gusty and into the bargain nearly totally flat.

There have only been a couple of sou easters and none with any real waves.

Usually November we could kite nearly every day and we would have had at least one cranking sou easter with good swell.

Maybe Huey is saving them up for Mambo!

Cheers Hages

Its not the slippers mate its the lack of daylight saving [thanks to all the rednecks in WA for the NO vote' and work of course
' work ..the curse of the kitesurfing classes' to paraphrase Oscar Wilde'.

I do admit that Rebel 12 has the whole 100kgs of you fanging upwind in 10kts.......WTF!
