Hey Guys,
I am here managed to find somewhere to live in the first couple of hours.
Now on to the important stuff. Where to Kite!!!????
I have a stinger suit and I am not afraid of the crocs or sharks or anything else. (I did a season in Port Douglas and cooktown) Where to go??? Where to check the wind forcast?
Who are the people I should talk to??
Not much wind at the moment but I do have a carton of beer to drink whilst waiting for it. I also only bought my 12M I left the 9M back on the gold coast but I can get it sent up if required. Do I need the 9??
Good winds to you all
Check out funsupply.com.au
It's got beach locations with maps on it which is pretty handy. Main beach that everyone goes too is Casuarina, behind the lifesaving club. Good bunch of people up there who are happy to help you if you ask.
you dont check the forecast or wind readings in darwin, you sit at the beach drinking heinekin waiting for the wind.
You'll be lucky if you get out on a 12m. Usual size is 14 or 16.
I would divulge you with all the low down of darwin kiting, but I don't kite there any more and don't want to upset anyone![]()
There are a couple of Darwin riders roaming around on here who might be a little more useful
Is there any truth in the rumour that there is an award given to anyone brave enough to kite at Darwin.![]()
Tightlines
PM me and Ill fill you in on details for Dtown Kitting...... and yes bring a chair and beer at the moment.. !!
it's nothing to do with bravery... more about desperation![]()
and we always make sure we celebrate our survival thoroughly after each session!![]()
by the way, InTheOzone, bring a slab of Heinies down to the surf club the next
time there is a 10 knot northerly, and you will get all the info you need.
trade the 9 for a 14/16 and you will be set! oh... and be afraid of crocs...![]()
haha i rocked up in the wet with my sinker years ago and 4.6, 5.0 and 5.8 wavesails. had one or two epic sessions in january or febuary with waves crashing over the jetty and then.........................................................................................................................................................................................................................
caught some great fish.
sold all of my windsurfing gear.
serious even if the wind is up if the tide is out fark me!
not so bad for kiting...can kite in shallows but i'd rather mow the lawn or fish than kite with a 14 or a 16
get a good boat and go to the tiwis - port hurd, minimi, roper mouth, mouth of the south, daly, BYNOE, spot 6, aspley strait, carlaw and love creek, and the balet at the parap on fridays.
Dinah beach yacht club for steak with garlic sauce.
A mad old guy told me that if you get too close to crocs kiting (gove way) they open their mouths and gape at you. wear a stinger suit for the stingers.
top place
... bargearse, finally worked out why your so positive regarding Darwin, its 'cause you had a pole board...explains alot! One thing we do have, we kite all year round, and winter aint cold as mutha-fu#ker, its good beer drinking temp!
... and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, dude! If you have to take a big one out, then a big one it is, you gotta make lemonade dude if your given lemons!!
Intheozone, here's a little wet season stuff to look at:
Ha ha nice one.
Someone told me there was no surf in NT! There looks like there is plenty in the first vid, more than perf anyway ![]()
More Hoff on there Robbie! I know he's a shy one n hard to catch on film.
Hoff was talking up a full on back roll. He recons he accidentally busted it off a pitching wave last time he visited Nan on the Goldie.
I believe him cause all he says is truth.. but.. I wanna see him rolling one in Darwin, on video ![]()
Where Is the wind??? I have been up here for over a week now over 2 weeks since I left the Goldie and I need a kiting fix.
A week??? hmmmm.... poor bugger...well, there was wind at buff creek at 1000 today. only lasted an hour, and you would'nt have got out on a 12 anyway
. it's been a shocker this year, with the monsoons effectively finishing at the end of Feb, and SFA since. stay tuned, the S/E trades will kick in over the next month, as well as the N sea breezes...
. the thing about kiting in Darwin, is that you need plenty of time off work... to go to mui ne and Gero!![]()
ps - a certain 130 odd kilo dude has been out 3 times this week... B@stard!
so its there if you have the right gear and know where to look...![]()
yeah man, get a race board, will change you life and triple your water time. These things make you feel like your fully lit in 12 knots, well maybe not lit but you get the idea!!!
By the way the videos are awesome. can't wait for a bit of wind and to meet up with some of the guys.
Any one know of a part time job going?
I thought you had found my finger for a minute there.
Anyone want to buy a 16m 08 rebel??
hardly used. smells like beer.
