Well if I want to use it at cable or winching pretty sure i do hahaha, and ive heard they got some new technology on their wakeboards thats not on their kiteboards. Not to mention ive seen a few pics of darksides pretty destroyed so im not to keen on the quality of those. I'm also keen to see the new boots, I heard they have been completley redesigned.

Don't start that again lol..

The 2010 Slingshot Straps have gone down the Laces road this year too...
Soon everyone will have straps with laces - and then what's next? Ratchet systems?

thing is on straps laces make zero difference, it's just a stupid gimmick, your feet are going to fly out the back anyway.

key in that sentence.. slingy and LF still call them straps! hahaha

yeah whats up with the darksides? i heard their tips are pretty flimsy? heard of a few people whos already destroyed them.. .that and paying 1050 for just a blank deck when i could bay like 7 or 800 for a wake deck... hmmmmmmm i wonder which i would rather go for?

good on slingy for tapping into a relatively untouched market.. not good on slingy for making floppy tipped boards (from what ive seen n heard).. and not good on slingy for markup 5000 on the price compared to the wake line seeing as its the same, if not inferior technology

Yep - "Bolt-Ons" Pad & Strap System from Slingshot

"The DragPull Straps unique design mounts directly to the pads Super Structure. It has NEVER been easier" - Quote from the 2010 Dealer cataloge that's sitting on my desk... No wake section though

Just got our new 2010 Octane 9m demo in.

It looks sooo good! The new bar is a massive improvment on last years and the kite looks classic Slingshot Tuff.

Feel free to pop past the shop anytime there is wind to take it out for a test run.

Slingshot Australia sponsored rider Scotty Johnson will have one up at Marrochydore next time there's wind so if you see him be sure to hit him up for ride.

Im busting to try this kite myself!

Just received our 11M Octane demo, its not a Rev3 its a completely different kite, we have a Rev2 pumped up beside it. Tips are much more upright on the Octane, this should give it a shorter depower throw and still should have low bar pressure.
The new bar looks really, really nice, all the releases are push away, SS have spent a heap of R&D time and $$$ on this new bar, and it really looks like it will do everything for most riders.

Kite has 5 thin struts, same bulletproof canopy contruction, struts more evenly spaced similar AR although overall it looks slight lower. Can't wait to try it out!!

"Characteristics such as massive boost, unmatched range, light bar pressure, quick turning, kite loops without consequence and solid surf performance" blah blah blah.

Whats next, a fuel with a spare man to hold you inverted while you pass??? I don't get it, sorry. Im a fan of slignshot, but thats just going down the river of sell....

Yes it is, and it rages and flows through the various villages and towns where the amazing BUY people suck it all up!

I wish they would all just sell the same kite, it would be so much simpler.

Steve,

What's the target rider for this kite?

I always thought of the REV (I and II) as a wave kite and that is now a discontinued kite-and it doesn't seem to me there's a Slingy that fits the bill?

The Octane is still going to be sick in the waves from what I here.
If you spending most of your time hooked in when your wave riding the Octane will be the kite of choice. If you mostly un hooked in the waves the RPM is proberly more suited.

Although the Octane will still work well unhooked its just the RPM will be a little more stable in this fasion.

Hope that helps a little.

The Octane will be the kite for the majority of wave riders I would say.

I heard Ben is super stoked with it. I thought he would have been more a RPM man as he spends more time unhooked so I would love to here something from him...Ben if your listening?!... lets us know what ya reckon!

Cheers

Matts out testing the kite now, hopefully he gets a bit more wind before the Southerly tomorrow. Troy 2868 is picking up the kite from Matt tonight and hoping to get in an early session tomorrow morning in the Southerly at Wanda.

Rev as a name is gone, however when we pumped the kites up back to back they are quite similar in AR. The Octane is a much more upright kite though and this tends to give a kite a shorter and more sensitive depower throw. The bridle is short and minimised like the Rev2, I really think the Octane is aimed at the Rev2 upgrade rider who wants an even better kite for waves and freestyle.

The kite looks awesome and I'm fairly positive that SS have done a heap of R&D to make sure that the kite will suit its loyal Rev owners, the fact that Ben has chosen it as his power source is a good indicator that it unhooks fine and is the choice from SS for waveriders and freestylers alike.

The new bar is a huge improvement, well the c-loop and swivel are, the bar itself is very similar to the Rev2 bar, except for the centre hole and flanges.
