I remember we had plenty of seabreeze by then.

Last Sunday we had a session and there was more than 20 kiters in our local beach.
It was pain in the neck to go upwind in westerly wind as I was surrounded be kiters on both sides.
AND have in mind that most kiters don't like winter and they hate westerlies!
I think by 11/11/2009 we gotta be lucky to find a spot at the beach to pump our kites.
There is just so many of us!

I think by the 11/11/2009 we will be lucky to find 3 of us out on our 44 kms of beach.. 
Looking a the way Geraldton is stacking up with green lines, I reckon 2 weeks so my bet is the weekend of 9/10th Oct.

who was out on monday night at cott cutting it up on the best . he was going off with some great smashes off the lip i got down too late

Sad I will not make it to Exy this year, first time in many that I'm not starting the WA season up there. Ah, 30 degrees and 30 knots, humping turtles, whales and those big fat brothers in the dark suites.
It may just warm up here eventually.........here's to 26 on the weekend.......but 10 knots

When it gets friggen hot and you are so sick and tired of the heat.........the 20 knot doctor sorts you out....................it's the name of this site.....big fat seabreeze....nothing like it.

it also is know for this term as it clears away all the industry/city pollution...
a nice '3-in-1' :) cools the heat; drives pollution away; makes us windsports enthusiasts very happy! 
Sci - i reckon November 1st is the magic date mate That's when the doctor will get out his tools gathering dust in the attic, and do some handiwork again!

The Fremantle Doctor, or 'The Freo Doctor' is the Western Australian vernacular term for the cooling afternoon sea breeze which occurs during summer months in coastal areas of Western Australia. The sea breeze occurs because of the major temperature difference between the land and sea.
During summer months it consistently blows from the South-West along the southern half of the west coast, starting between noon and 3 pm. It can penetrate as far inland as 100km, reaching York in the early evening.
In Perth, the capital city of Western Australia, the wind is named the Fremantle Doctor because it appears to come from the nearby coastal city of Fremantle, and it brings welcome relief from the summertime high temperatures. However, it is almost certain that the term Fremantle Doctor has its origins in Fremantle's dark past. At Catherine Point, a short distance south of Fremantle, crematoriums were established during the colony's early days to dispose of the corpses of those who had fallen to the illnesses which preyed upon the population in the city's early days. It is reported that the Doctor was named in honour of the wind which blew the stench of burning human flesh inland, as this was otherwise noticeable in both Fremantle and her environs.
The Fremantle Doctor often cools the Perth suburbs by several degrees, whilst nearer the coast the wind can be quite strong, often blowing between 15 and 20 knots and making afternoon beach visits unpleasant(WTF???)

Ive got a boat and Im very keen to start hittin Rotto this season.
I've surfed there a bit but never kited and I'm drooling at the thought of being able to ride all those sweet spots I've seen break, but don't look like you can paddle in to.
I can comfortably take 4 so anyone who's keen PM me.
Be great to get someone on board who's kited it before and can offer advice.
The Fremantle Doctor, has its origins in the era of sailing ship transportation, it was a fairly reliable breeze that come up with regularity, that assisted the sailing ships to dock, it was in the main a manageable breeze.
It is a blessing if one is becalmed on Cockburn sound waiting for the start of a sailing race, being scorched by the hot relentless sun with a covering of salt water, then from the SSW comes the first little breath, and your hull makes some little rippling sounds, then within a few minutes your underway........
Landlubbers are also happy because the excessive still and oppressive conditions abate a little and life becomes bearable again.
It can increase in velocity until it becomes a absolute hoot for sailors.....LONG LIVE THE DOCTOR!!!!

I just got back from a week in the North West and upon our arrival I can't begin to tell you how good it was to experience a solid 23 knots of SW seabreeze.
We had 5 out of 7 days of solid 20+ seabreezes.
Months of poxy gusty NW & wetsuit weather is about to end!
